Well - today was the day, put all the rest of the front bits on , lowered the hoist ALL THE WAY to the ground , pumped the tyres up, checked the wheel nuts then drove it off the hoist for the first time in 6 long bloody years.

Cleaned all the crap outa the boot , bolted the battery in properly, put the doors on and drove it out of the shed.

Let it sit there and idle for 5 minutes or so and it boiled its guts out and puked water out through the head gasket ImageImageImageImageImageImage
Fan isn’t coming on - it’s controlled via the computer so might rewire it via the EWP controller.
Brakes are back down near the floor but seem to have a good pedal - more fettling required there

Rusty fb special sedan all barred out, with rough looking supercharged blue six which apparently runs. He got all keen to restore it. Bought a heap of bits from me, some of which he never picked up.

Hi Blacky, what is your current thinking about the coolant issue? I have been mulling it over and reckon there must just be no movement of coolant.

A fellow like you would have checked that head gasket holes were all aligned with block and head, so that isnt it.

It sounds like pump is not circulating: is it coming on? If it is coming on, is it obstructed by thermostat, a filter, some other obstruction in the radiator inlet or outlet? Even if it was pumping backwards it would still circulate unless there were other restrictions.

It really isnt likely to be anything about your engine power mods other than an issue with your cooling system me thinks😀

Yeah its a process of elimination Brett - water pump didn't kick in until the thing was at 95 degrees, there is no thermostat in the system now as per Davies Craig's recommendation, I would have thought it would at least run slowly well below that temperature, the fan didn't kick on at all so there's an issue there to resolve. Will keep plugging away at it.

Pretty sure the pump should run in pulsate mode at 6v up until it gets to temp
