Thanks Neil
Piece of leather from an old lounge or welding apron would be good. Also prevents hair and scalp getting burnt when hot dags are flying.

These are a bit pricey, but I like the velcro idea:

Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute

Post by Errol62 »

Wow. I’d forgotten all about this. Just had a call from Mark in Rouse Hill Sydney, who is doing up an FB van. I sent him my old seat trim from the ute to use to repair his original blue seat in his van. Would have been six months ago. Phoned to let me know his sister in law has a rear ute screen waiting for me to pick up when she arrives back in Adelaide from visiting him.

Cheers Patrick

Been plugging away tidying up the underside floor pan..ImageImage
Having reinstated the bumperette mount captive nuts, which sheared during removal, thought I’d have ago at trial fitting the fuel tank. There went several hours.ImageThis is how it sits with the filler neck outlet correctly positioned. It is about 10mm to the passenger side relative to the two remaining original mounting holes. This has made me rethink my strategy for welding in the donor section. I intended to use the two original holes to set up the position for the driver side of the tank. New plan is to trial fit the tank, then attach the donor to the tank. Massage in to position, tek screw, cut, clamp and but weld.

Yes the tank has had some solder but it could be from factory I don’t know. It looks perfect. Original tank that came in the ute.

Pressure washer, Floorprep 1:5 and scotchbrite, pressure wash clean. Paint tomorrow forecast 18C.
