Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute

Post by 59wagon »

Moving along nicely Clay. Image

quote="Errol62"]Image[/quote]

Have you chosen a colour yet? Wedgewood blue like the roof, wedgewood blue with a dark tint like the tray outside panel, or wedgewood blue with a really dark tint like the passenger door, or just keep it tricolour with some patina? Image

Cheers,

John

Plan is to rub back to original paint but there will be quite a few repairs and sand throughs. Some of the window lip is minus paint and I want to touch this up before I reinstall seals. So I seem to be heading towards a back yard acrylic Wedgwood blue paint job.

Been collecting red motor bitsImageOnly a low comp 202 head but been ported and big valves. So called double springs but really they are dampers.

Reckon I threw out a good one of these. ImageJust kept the shock mounts. That was before I got the ute.

Glad it arrived safely mate - should be some left over - it looks even better inside the car - :yeahhh:
got some work to do in the tub - I had bit of rust on the outer joins and around the tank - took a fair bit of repair time - at least the weather cooling a bit
You will find me lost somewhere!

Decided to replace the driver side front guard with one that came on the EK van.Image Yes it is an FB guard. ImageThe only serious rust is here:Image
Passenger guard not toooo bad:ImageImageImageI’ll need a top section for the driver side and bottom for passenger and fill the rest with sheet.

I’ve got the cargo divider replacement sections ready to go:Image
Been having a go at the roof. ImageI am tempted to give it a skim of filler. Never used it before but I’m guessing it needs to go on clean metal, not over old paint? At least I need to key the low spots right?

Soooooo I thought this was a quick clean up and drive mate  starting to look like what normally happens "just going to touch it up" and all of a sudden it is a full rebuild  but I have to say everything you have tackled has needed doing and it is really coming together Clay, please keep the photos coming I really enjoy your updates mate.

Thanks for your encouragement Neil. Yes things have snowballed and yes isn’t it always the way. But.....
not planning to touch the suspension at this stage. We’ll apart from bolting on new shocks and sway bar. Not planning anything for engine and driveline at least prior to rego. Ive gone and got a bit carried away with the upholstery and the rust repairs are a little more extensive than originally anticipated. I didn’t really have a plan about paint. Otherwise it’s all going to plan 8).

Still umming an arrring about the seat belts but definitely will fill the holes in the tunnel used previously for the inner mounts, as well as the pillar holes. I wanted to fit belts with old style buckles but not really safe or legal.

Seat belt holes in tunnelImage
Finally the cabin is more or less sealed up but I still need to massage the roof a little before I paint inside roof and floor.
