rosco wrote:Think my "best ever" was at 18 - we used to fit "wolf whistles" to our cars...... a valve which fitted into the plug on the side of the intake manifold (grey) - a length of bare wire ran from this valve to under the dash and we tied a piece of string on it..... if you had plenty of vaccuum, you could get a good long whistle out of it and "play" it ..... if you forgot and pulled it at the lights - you'd stall the engine........

When you went past a good lookin' sheila you give her a bit of a blow......
I got a lot of "glee" out of driving people on bicycles nuts..... but....

One day, upside down under the dash - with my legs over the back of the front seat - was working on something with the engine running.......

Managed to short out this wire across the back of the amp gauge..... cut through the oil line to the oil pressure gauge and I grabbed the hot wire...... burned right into my fingers - nearly to the bone......
Can you imagine how I got out of there..... hot oil going all over me and into my eyes - kicking and struggling to get out from under the dash with burned fingers an a red hot wire still in them........ smell of burning flesh is not nice..... and bloody sore for weeks..... wolf whistle made a departure from my arsenal of "accessories"......
Steering wheels fitted to FB/EK's are pretty big when you're trying to get out from under them - not around 'em......

sorry Mick - did it again - didn't I?

frats,
Rosco

ps - lucky the engine stalled - would have got a lot more oil on me by the time I got out if it didn't......
still 'til this day can't remember why I was under there...... didn't have the warmaride in at that time just these three "Arrow" gauges, a wolf whistle and a "Realistic" auto reverse tape deck...... along with the "factory" radio.......

Yes Mick,

See my fair share of snakes tramping through the bush for work most days. They are not so bad once its warmed up, they tend to keep out of your way. Most of my close calls are October/November when its warming up, you just about stand on one curled up catching some rays only to find on your return trip its gone

Know what you mean Ben - Years ago used to drive a 4x4 round the Kimberley & often at night you would be belting along the road only to see several sets of eyes in your head lights - cattle sleeping on the warm bitumen or in the bush the odd snake on the warm rocks, then there's the odd fresh water croc, green tree ants etc, but hey it did keep you on your toes.

WA the state of excitment:

nothing really to see, still kinda looks like the first pics just more complete and it's all pretty much the basic stuff that's been covered in other threads like disc front red motor 5 speed chassis kit
when i can drive it out and in the shed will be the next pics, unless there's things people want to see
