I collected the ute from CEVA this afternoon, after bus, train, bus and a half hour walk through the seedy streets of Wingfield. All in order. 3205 miles, or 5157km travelled, door to door. 565 litres of petrol, mainly 98, for an average economy of 25.8mpg, or 11.0 litres/100km.

This has become an annual post Nationals ritual, drying out.

In the rear was only a thimble of clean water lying in a corner of the tank surround lip, which only got in from a puddle in the cover, when I took it off wet after hosing down post CEVA pickup.

The front has some slightly damp dust, debris and insulation, the removable bits on the floor flats.

Pretty good really.
The other reason for taking everything out is to try and eliminate the two metallic squeaks that plagued me on the after tour. I certainly won't be taking it out for a test the next couple of days as it's raining Ike SW WA currently. Miserable.

Where are the cabin leaks Clay? I'm wondering if a bloke should be having a look around his ute and learn from your experiences

It's the front screen, Brett. It's not too bad, and I could possibly remedy it with some attention. Such a fraught design really.

Hmmmm…. My front screen on the Ute leaks too on the passenger side. Bit of a pain but it is not often out in wet weather.

You need to bring it to Temora next year, Stephen.

Just so that you know that I care about my crusty wagon, I lifted the radiator cap the other day and the tank was half filled.
Good to go again.
Cheers,
Roger
