After clearing out the shed some more today,
I got looking at the van, and thinking about
Ratbox's comment, about me not fitting in it, with the low chop top.
So I got out an old rug, folded it over to a small square,
put it on the drivers side floor, and sat in it.
I think I'm going to need Ski-Boat bucket seats

or you could sell it to a short arse
like me
and i'm only thinking of you don't want you getting a sore neck or anything
you should sit in it and get someone to take a side photo

Here you go Ratbox.

The dash & steering wheel feel very high, compared to my other FB,
with this low seating position.
Stock seat would make it feel right, but I wouldn't see out of it.
I was planning to have the whole car riding real low,
but it would make it harder to get in & out.
So what do I do?
Stuff it, I'm going for low buckets & low suspension, I'll live with that.
Cheers
Jeff

Hey Jeff, Try a Rodeo bucket bench. I've used a '98 model bench with the cut out for the 5 speed and it sits real low, I've had to make up brackets to give me my desired ride hieght and the width is spot on. Plus they flip forward to give you access to the back.

low seat and real low suspension will look excelent
nuthing looks funnier than crawling out of a car rather than stepping out because it's to low
imagine how much you'll tower over the car once it's lowered 3"-4"

Gday Theo
I'm going to run seperate buckets of some style, because
the handbrake holes in the firewall have been filled in
and I'll have to use floor mounted one between the seats with
an auto shifter as well.
Any low buckets out there that flip forward?
Cheers
Jeff

you should take the hump out of the floor, the one that runs across under the seat, then you can use lower seats that's what i did with the chopped 2 door

Hey Jeff,
The only low style flip forward buckets I know of are Triumph tr4 or MG buckets. They bolt down at the front and have no locking mechanism that I know of but sit flat so you'll have to make up a flat seat pan for them to sit in.

Just get the floor upolsted with plenty of padding...hehe
But maybe flattened floor as ratbox suggested with HK/T/G monaro buckets and you could use the centre console (just to keep the parts holden) and have a HQ handbrake between the drivers seat and drivers door.

My buckets are HR and they sit lower than the old bench, but I don't think they would be low enough. Hk/t/g are basically the same as HR but they fold forward and they cost about ten times more

.
I'd look in an old Datsun 180b coupe or something like that, something you can take the head rests off to get the low back look,

Hey Jeff,
How 'bout some old VW Beetle seats, I've sean 'em used before and they look quite period (like the old tuck 'n' roll style) and they flip forward also. Can get them pretty cheap also (added bonus)
Cheers,

Hey thommo
take the hump out of the floor. down to the bench seat mounts and use Jap import coupe seats . Then convert your front end to rack , then you can drop your colum abit for more comfortable drivimg posie(use FX-FJ colum mounts) .These are the mods done to my Van-ute and it works atreat
