Got bored so put some blue on the dash. Like it more than original maroon. So I think I'll keep the blue.

Was happy this weekend when i was able to get the engine running. We took the spark plugs out, attached an old motorcycle fuel tank and cranked it over until the fuel pump filled and sent juice to the carbie, we put the plugs back in and turned her over. She blew alot of smoke for around 10 minutes then she cleared up. Not running perfectly yet but at least she runs...
This was my highlight of the weekend... special mention to my step dad for helping me get it going and to Fingers for lending me a carbie.
My low light of the weekend was towing a vintage caravan with the commodore and losing the water pump 3 hours out of Melbourne... originally we thought we would get to the caravan park at 7pm, finally made it around 3am, thank god i had a mate come round and pick us and the van up.

Sounds like a good plan Coops. I'll give it a go, just found out that a mate of a mate has an English wheel, that might make the job easier

I had to cut a piece from a donor car and weld it in ...here ya go mate....Fingers .

You can cut out that rusted section from the sill to just where the seat mount bolts are, to get the indentations, you can use an 1/2 drive extension bar and open a bench vice just enough to make the impressions, then fold the panel and weld it back in.
Or if your really tricky you can make up a hammer form from 19mm MDF and use a small ball pien hammer and take your time.

will probably tackle it in a few weeks, so if anyone can cut one out of a donor car for me, that'll be sweet...
If so many of us need this replaced, why hasn't Rares or someone made a replacement panel???
