Nah, haven't heard of JMS. Looks like he runs a small engine mobile mechanic service out of Colyton (about 10km west) and lives near me in Greystanes. If you need anything picked up from him, give me a yell (should be home this weekend).

Cheers,
Harv
Harv that’d be great. I’ll pm you his number.
Cheers

Sent you a pm Harv. I know you’re busy mate.

Paint is cured and looking forward to putting the front back on over the next few days. Once I recover from Christmas lunch at work today. Cant get too carried away as have to meet no 1 daughter at VW dealer this arvo and sign some documents. She’s buying a demo polo. Bloody women and their euro cars. At least it is kraut and not frog or wog.

The firewall’s good enough ImageStarted fitting rubber grommets. Steering wheel requires honey Image pot removal which then allows column withdrawal. Or I could cut the rubber and install with column in-situ. Yes lazy. Seal is worth $20. Thinking.

You and yours too Neil and everyone on the forum.

Some of the grommets you can get on their own. The FB wiper control wire you can’t and I bought a firewall kit to get this. Not that I’m using it but rather than weld up the hole I thought I’d leave it original. You never know I may go back to vacuum wipers......yeah-nah.

All bolted up okay without too much drama. ImageImageJust need to unbolt the top and lean the front forward slightly so I can hopefully get mastic in the sandwich.

Thanks Neil.

All fitted up now. Just waiting for the mastic to cure a bit before I touch up with the Metal Fix. ImageImageImageImageImage
Bolted up the steering box. ImageIhad to fit three shims to the rear mounting point. ImageImageImageAlmost needs a fourth. Centred the box and fitted up the pitman arm but it looks like the draglink assembly may have to come off to sort a clearence issue.

Too hot for welding. Started having a look at the front guards. Passenger side is not bad. Top back corner will patch up okay. ImageI will weld in a patch while it is bolted up to the car so it doesn’t go out of shape.

These wheel arch supports usually rot. ImageThis one no exception.

Couple of other minor bits. ImageImage
Scraped the insides and put on the bath. Image

Driver side needs a bit more work but I am going to try and use sections from the wheel arch and rear edge of a passenger side guard that I have already taken parts from for the van. It was quite rotten at the top and bottom rear and is the original front guard from the van.
