Installing a new wagon or ute one from Rares is painful. Another inch or so of fabric and it would be easy... there is enough there on the wagon (just) but the ute one was short across the bottom of the rear window.

I think the pros stretch them a lot, get them very tight.

Installing this one was a long process, had the lining hanging for the last week though the heat and just gradually stretched it further each day hence all the bulldog clips.

To be honest some area were short but instead of wrapping the lining around the edges I glued the inside and made sure it was stuck good.

Either way it’s not coming off haha.

My mate helping me with the final bit is a retired trimmer so he managed to work the hair dryer in the places that didn’t want to play ball and it worked out even better than he even expected.

Can’t beat the random star pattern, specially in a wagon. You can look forward to sleeping “under the stars”.

To some extent its my fault, and I shouldn't whinge.

Any time I've had a problem with Rares stuff I've taken it back, took photos/measurements of the drama and they have corrected the issue back with their supplier (gearbox input shaft drilling depth, accelerator pedal tack weld, front screen rubber length etc).

I learnt early on that the trick was to deal with the Directors - it's their business, and they care about quality. The various Rares stores dotted around the country are franchises, and their care factor is hit and miss (kudos though to the Sydney store... have never had a refund drama with them, and always a square answer on parts availability). The franchisees aren't always well placed to help - they are not always early Holden nuts, and can struggle to sort out if the problem is a real issue or just the opinion of a purchaser who does not know any better. Les, Dave and Lance however know their Holden parts, and quickly sort the wheat from the chaff. Les has since passed away, and Dave has retired, leaving Lance.

I should have pulled the hoodlining out while it was hanging there, or at least taken measurements/photos of the drama. I didn't though. Shouldn't complain about something I didn't try to help fix.

Cheers fellas yes the headliner turned out choice.

Here is a shout out to ‘In the Shed’ Stephen who helped me solder up my broken top tailgate struts.
The ends needed reinforcements and a mig was deemed too aggressive for the job.

Tailgate rubber and both tailgates now fitted, even managed to get the teenager in the shed for the arvo which was good!

A step in the right direction to get windows fitted on the weekend.

Now it’s time to get the kingpins done.
