In launceston this morning , about to wander down to the swap meet to see if I can find a few little bits that I am after to finish the old girl .

Went to rare spares up here yesterday to re order a few little rubber bits that got misplaced in the move , they are put in a safe place somewhere , never to be seen again

Better get out of bed and get going , see what I can find .

Gee over 12 months since my last post , what a slacker .

For those that are interested still no progress on the ute unfortunately , have moved house again , didn't like the city so have gone back to the bush .

Continuing on with my problem of buying old crapped out things ,I have brought a 1901 Farm house that was half falling down and have been flat out making it Liveable.

Have got the house to a stage now that it is comfortable ,off grid power and a hot shower ,so my thoughts are turning to building a new shed now to get back into the cars .

Have just starting digging out a flat area for the shed and putting paperwork into council .

Son is on to me flat out to get the ute done for his leavers dinner this year , so it will give me a deadline to get it finished .

So it should be this year ,lol, so stay tuned

Great to hear Rusty! Seems we have similar aged kids. My son wants to use Pa's Ute for his Year 12 graduation at the end of the year ... feeling the pressure.

I'm putting remote central locking and power windows into my FB. I've got the mechanisms in, but was wondering how/where you ran the wires into the doors. I'm worried about turning my pillars into Swiss cheese by drilling holes and also concerned about crushing the cables when the doors are closed. Any photos would be awesome.

Thanks Chris. Appreciate it. Maybe unwrapping her will get you excited again and back into it? I've done more work on my car in the last two weeks than I have in the last 8 months and it's been great. Can't wait to get it back on the road!!!

Cleaned out the hay shed and built an extension on the front with a roller door to keep the sheep out .
Got everything I need in there , heater, fridge and a toolbox , not the flashiest shed but now I have somewhere to work on the ute .
Got two months to finish before my sons leavers dinner , talk about leave it to the last minute .
Into the ute this weekend .

Hi Aaron , I keep forgetting your photos , my bad , but what I did is , I brought some flexible chrome tube from a hot rod shop that the wires run through , I have drilled a neat hole through the door and slid the tube in and glued it inside the door .

The other end goes through where the courtesy light switch should be , so as you open and close the door it slides in and out .
I plan to turn a plastic sleeve on the lathe at work that is a tight fit in the hole in the pillar and a bit larger than the flexible tube on the inside , so as you open and close the door it slides in and out of the plastic .

The ute never came out with courtesy lights so I just used this hole , you will have to drill another hole , and get a sleeve made up to suit , hope this makes sense , somebody else may have a better way of doing it ?

Ute is off to the tranny shop tomorrow to finally get the gearbox fixed , then it is onto the interior . Have borrowed an industrial sewing machine and am going to have a go at making the interior panels , this will be a first for me , see how it goes
