FINALLY!!!! Introducing Sam's FB ute -
Good advice Andrew, and I will take it!
We seem to have lost so much along the way in this great country and that includes the small details about a car, or a person that owned it.
These old girls are around fifty years old and have a story to tell. Imagine an older gent of 60 walking into a showroom and purchasing not just his FIRST car but a BRAND NEW one !!!
I hope I hear more about the ute and the people that owned it.
Now Sam, sorry to get off track mate - more pictures of this weekends work please !!!

Thanks Timbo...I hope she wouldn't freak at what I'm doing to the thing!!SunnyTim wrote:Scotty, I know of the two previous owners of your green standard going back prior to Steve too if you ever want to connect the dots. She's an Ipswich car originally sold at Faulkner Motors in downtown Ipswich

Ok sorry Ive been Down to Melbourne for All Holden day. It was great to see so many only Holden... Best part was all the FB & Eks. I'll post some pix up in that section. Great to Meet Adam "Kingaz" & see his ute in the flesh... great job mate. Met Fletch from Classic restors, Hes a really nice guy.
OK so onto the lasted update on my ute.
Usual rust in the guards. Both have been repair previously, but the Pass side was done pretty badly. So we did the usual buy the new section, then Dave wove his magic to make if fit properly. Sure some of u have experience same thing. It didint match to well & needed some adjusting to make it all look good.
This section had a little surface rust. Nothing to serious so we just cleaned it up, treated it & the primed it after.
till next time

Hi all, well its been a while since my last post, but there has been plenty going on...
Heres the rear tray bit we clean up, primed & ready.
Dave has been bizzy, he's just about dont all the body work repairs.
Heres the rear tail lights repaired & ready to be blocked back.
I started on the front of the ute, rubbing down.
Both tails gates were hiding a bit of bodgee repairs, so we decided to remove & replace skin on upper, & fabricate for lower.
Here's Daves brilliant work. Dave had to remove the inner bar & bring some definition back
Old skin removed, paint striped & clean up
after a bit of adjusting...
the blue paint is the stop rust we painted inside
Perfect fit. plus Lft side blocked back
till next time.

Geeze Dave, you'll get bored once Sam's ute is done..if you do there's always a Standard sedan that can use extra hands to block it back for paint as wellbootlegger wrote:After burning the midnight oil last night finally Sams ute is ready to paint. Hopefully all will go well today. Dave

You get the car to me Scotty and Ill give you a hand. Anything would be better than sitting in traffic for hours crawling home from work like I did tonight. I had a meltdown by the time I got home and told my boss to jam his job. Sydney traffic just sucks.
I got Sams ute done this morning. It looks good. Now I have to slice and buff it and get it all back together.

Evening all, well after a bizzee week, Dave has painted, sliced & buffed the ute, our next move is to piece her back together.
heres some pix from the week / weekends work;
I'm really happy how she looking & coming along, should be able to take her for my first drive next week????
We had to take the brakes off. the wheel cylinders on all wheels were jam. 2 drums r off to be machine too. all shoes r being redone too. we get the brakes back this week.
yep thats Dave, doing a great job I might ad
note: original Dealer sticker.
Dave had to do a heap of work to this lower tail gate, as all the lower section was bogged up... he cut it off & fabricated a new section.... pretty good work I recon.
Ok well I've sent my National application off, & we have book our accommodation... so c u all there.
till next time.
ciao brown cow.
