I'm slowly getting this HR front end together.
Just cleaned up the control arms, and got these drop stubs off Rod Hadfield in the mail today. It was like christmas!
Should be nice and low

Guards will need pumping!
Anybody know of any springs or shocks for sale?

Just use your old springs and buy some new shocks - they are cheap.

Well done J for buying the dropped stubs. Now you will get the best of both worlds - a lowered car AND suspension travel.

I have encountered a possible problem.
Torana and HR disc stubs look very similar to HR but there is a 1.5 degree difference in Kingpin Inclination (the angle between top and bottom ball joints measured from the vertical) This means that fitting HR or HQ stubs to a Torana causes the wheels to lean in an extra 1.5 degrees, and usually results in alignment problems.

Now, this states that it will cause a problem if fitting to a Torana, not an HR front end in an EK.
Would this be the same or different? I am hoping I wont have any problems considering CRS said it'd be fine and I forked out $800 for fkn stubs.
I'm getting pretty frustrated with the whole thing, the EK has been off the road since August, all I want is an HR front end in it and it looks like I will be waiting until after Christmas unless I attempt the whole thing myself.
Id go ahed and buy HR discs and calipers etc but nope... cant find hubs anymore apparently.
stupid cars

Fitting CRS drop spindles to a HR front end will not cause any problems with wheel alignment. My front end runs them (as you know) and it has a beautiful wheel alignment

if they are stubs to suit a HR front end there will be no problems there would only be a problem IF you were puting torana stubs on a HR front or HR stubs on a torana front end
IF you are concerned because you are useing torana brakes on these stubs this will have no effect at all
from past experiance the only thing that might be an issue is wheel clearance to lower balljoint, only really an issue if useing 13" or some 14" wheels
another thing to be carefull of is if these stubs are the same design as his CRS ones they were based on a 2" drop from H/KTG and H/QJZX WB which means when used on HR you actually get nearly a 3" drop and in the right conditions the front crossmember can make contact with the ground before the bumpstops act
c'mon J you should have it done by christmas i'm hopeing to take the austin to summernats (on a trailer

) but all i have at present is an engine sitting in an engine bay not mounted and a mountain of work to do

fingers crossed it'll have breaks tomorrow

Mine does that
There is a massive speed bump at Uni - does it every time

They are drop stubs to suit torana disc brakes and will fit the HR front end apparently.
Will also be using 13inch wheels on them so I might just have to put them on and see.
CRS dont do them anymore I think - I got these ones off Rod Hadfield so I am unsure of what they are based off.
In terms of timeframe - I dont really know enough about it to put it all in by myself. Most I can do is the front end but I am also a bit limited with cash.

cash that'll slow you down everytime
what else do you need is the front end setup to go in an EK ? outrigger changed and engine mounts moved ?

yep, outrigger all changed, engine mounts moved.
I just need to swap the springs/shocks/brakes over and bolt it all in.

Since last Friday the EK has been at WA suspensions for its HR front end conversion. We are using a lot of the old parts but also had to get a lot of new things. At the moment I am not that cashed up but later down the line I will probably put a bigger strut/sway (the one underneath) bar on it.
I got the call today, they said "just come in and look".
Sure enough when I got there, the EK looked like this:
I am in LOVE with the height, but the fenders are sitting on the wheels so there was the option to pump the guards (which they dont want to do) or to put in some better springs to raise it a bit. I told them to go for the new springs but make sure it isn't too high. We'll see what happens but a new job starting in January might lead to airbagging

nice mate... i think springs is the better way to go than guard pumping!
sorry it has to go higher....
Cheers
