good question, the car was pretty much balanced on it's side pole was only there just incase
would be kinda just as easy doing it on the ground, they only weld in at the rear near the spring hangers front bolts in
re: the twist in theiry it could be just as easy to weld in a twist if the car is jacked and not supported exactly square
it's back on all 4's now and seems ok

Theoretically there would be bending/twisting by doing it like that but if the body is sound I reckon the amount of bend/twist would be negligable.
I've heard of blokes that have cut all four floor pans out in their cars at the same time and have found that once all four pans are cut out that the body can bend significantly and they have had heaps of trouble realigning in to weld the new floor pans in.
Hint here:- if replacing floor pans, do one pan at a time.

I can't think what to write here so this will do.

ohh well i'm out of excuses now
welder was over today and that's all finished, just a little nikky work on the bottom of one guard (i think he forgot who's car he was working on
) but it's all me now
wish the photographer was home today would've got some great shots of me using the grinder holding the steel with my feet only inches away with only my saftey thongs on ofcoarse
have a saftey tip aswell
usually buy/wear Kmart thongs, but bought target ones this time, much more comfortable but catch fire when grinder sparks hit 'em

I hope worksafe are watching this Mick..... they'll know there's no need for them to pay you a visit........
Remember setting fire to myself whilst welding under the car -was laying on my back and could smell smoke........ didn't realise it was me until I lifted the helmet...... bloody well banged my head a few times getting out.......
frats,

Yeah - 'twas real "Mrs Doubtfire" stuff - bloody lot of chest-beating when I got out...... to get the fire out, that is.....
Managed not to damage the auto helmet or the old bus..... did a lot of bone and skin damage though... not to mention the "vented" overalls.......
Sorry Mick - your thread.....

Think my "best ever" was at 18 - we used to fit "wolf whistles" to our cars...... a valve which fitted into the plug on the side of the intake manifold (grey) - a length of bare wire ran from this valve to under the dash and we tied a piece of string on it..... if you had plenty of vaccuum, you could get a good long whistle out of it and "play" it ..... if you forgot and pulled it at the lights - you'd stall the engine........
When you went past a good lookin' sheila you give her a bit of a blow......
I got a lot of "glee" out of driving people on bicycles nuts..... but....
One day, upside down under the dash - with my legs over the back of the front seat - was working on something with the engine running.......
Managed to short out this wire across the back of the amp gauge..... cut through the oil line to the oil pressure gauge and I grabbed the hot wire...... burned right into my fingers - nearly to the bone......
Can you imagine how I got out of there..... hot oil going all over me and into my eyes - kicking and struggling to get out from under the dash with burned fingers an a red hot wire still in them........ smell of burning flesh is not nice..... and bloody sore for weeks..... wolf whistle made a departure from my arsenal of "accessories"......
Steering wheels fitted to FB/EK's are pretty big when you're trying to get out from under them - not around 'em......
sorry Mick - did it again - didn't I?
frats,
Rosco
ps - lucky the engine stalled - would have got a lot more oil on me by the time I got out if it didn't......
still 'til this day can't remember why I was under there...... didn't have the warmaride in at that time just these three "Arrow" gauges, a wolf whistle and a "Realistic" auto reverse tape deck...... along with the "factory" radio.......
