Order the wheels for the sedan on Thursday ............... not cheap !!!
Unfortunately Im dead set on the design on page 2 of this thread. Thinest rim I can get up front is 7inches wide !!!! So its looking like the extractors will be getting switched out and the holes in the inner front guards were for no reason hah !
To cap it off the mini tubs in the back to suit 9inch wide rims ......... well the wheels im after only come in a 17x7 17x8 and 17x10 ! No way I can get the 10s fitting.
Gah just in one of those phases where if something is going to f@#$ up it will. The 179 which was to go into the panelvan also had a storage of water in the 6th piston chamber which is now pitted to no use !!!! How does water end up there ... after being stored in the garage you ask. It seems the single odd drops that roll down the chimney flu had a direct path the the rear of block ...... just bad luck it seems hahahaha

all that stuff sucks
do yorself a favor and do some measuring to make sure the wheels will fit, capt bill is having dramas with 31/2" how you guna go with twice the width, you don't want to do what aust mod did buy expensive wheels and then have to drive around on stocks or miss mached wheels cause they don't fit

Done the measuring Mick, pretty confident that the wheels will fit.
Front wheels will have 2.5inch off the disc with 4.5 off the rear. The 7inch wide will fit if I pull the extractors back thru the bay rather then out the front guards. I was hoping for a 4inch front and 9inch wide pro look ....... so at the time I wasnt concerned with the exhaust thru the front guards. Was thinking draglites etc for the rims but its been done alot before.
Then I saw the 5 spokes and it fit what I was after (even thou I had already commited with the exhaust) something close to the old 5 spoke dragways with a modern touch.
I did some cardboard templates on the sedan and used the panelvan with 14x7s on the front to judge clearance .......... they should just "scrape" in hahahaha.

Better start working out at the gym to turn the wheel then
...
If you're after a Dragway type 5 spoke with a modern touch have you looked at American Racing Wheels? These come in varying widths as far as I know, 15's and up and have that old but new look?

Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

Damn Mick 20x16 !!! I wanna see you cram something like that under your next two door ... you wont need the rear seat mate.ratbox wrote:i was going to mention new mickey thompson rims through rocket in the front cover of SM magazine available from 15x4-20x16
Cheers Fatboy with the rim info mate, if it gets to the point where I need to mod the rims ill hit you up for the shop running those prices. I had Neales wheels at green acre running round my head also if things do get that nasty.
Bill keeping the exhaust as is till the rims turn up. Theres a possibility the wheels might work as is, due to the larger rim size. As it stands the exhaust flange hangs out roughly 2cms passed the outer flat edge of the engine bay, if that makes sense. I dont know how to explain it properly, the exhaust pipes run thru the flattened step of engine bay (flat area where original battery is located but further back down the engine bay) so the pipes are flush with the engine bay outer wall, so if the tyres are going to scrub the pipes they will also scrub the outer engine bay wall up top. If that makes better sense ? Sort of can see this in the pic below on the left. Its hard to know if the protruding flange will be a problem as the rim maybe outside it on turn (flanges will sit within the rim area). Wont know till they turn up, and I guess again once lowered.
The rear will be lowered but I also want to try and maintain a raked appearance which is going to be tuff having 7inchs up front. The rear has been mini tubbed. When I set the cardboard template up on the rear I measured from the flat panel above the outer lip of the wheel arch to the far side of the tub. Measurements where done (circle on the cardboard measrured 17inch dia) with the rim even with the rear wheel lip and 2inchs extra for rubber. Measurements were 100mm off the front face of the disc and 180mm off the rear of the cardboard.
With the tyre set-up I should have 1/2inch clearance off the flat panel of the body (above the wheel arch lips on the outer body) both front and rear just to allow for a little bit of body roll and chassis twisting
There are just so many "maybes" involved, just seems easier to wait and see hahahaha
