Are those "Crupi" scuff plates - they sure polished up a treat if they are?

no theyre "stingray" scuff plates - was lucky enough to have a good set which I had chrome plated, although they did need to be lead wiped before chroming - a bit thin in places
and the inlays were in pretty good nik also - a nice touch i thought

so.....what are these crupi scuff plates you speak of

, i know of the crupi bros.

Hi Ray,
sorry for stealing your space here on Your EK.......

I saw stainless plates at Nowra nats and liked the look of them - they are finished in a satin........... but stainless as you very well know is virtually for ever................

I bought a set from Sam Crupi of Shepparton, Vic a few years back with the intention of fitting them when I started work on my interior........

Last year I was between projects and had the bench grinder set up of polishing - just decided to have a bit of a peek at how they would come up.....

After around two weeks, was absoluteley chuffed with them - fitted the inlays and - well, you'll see at Yamba - I believe I have them as good as chrome....

word of warning to anyone watching - please speak with me prior to working the buff on these -
Our old bus was in our treasurer's wedding and Sam was a guest at that - he was impressed with the finish..........

Hi Ray,
still working in the boot but whilst had the camera out - took these for yourself and Malcolm.................

This is just the overlap portion of the plates - they differ from original in that the just overlap, they do not have the built up "bulge" which creates a cavity.
If you use these, you must change both the front and back on each side.
You will notice the quality of the s/steel - it will buff up beautifully, but we warned - it is very thin and you must be aware of not offering a "leading edge" to the buffer.
It is also important not to over-heat them on the buff - they will distort, I had to "buff" the underside of the first one I did to "bend out" the distortion.
It is also most important that spacers are used to hold up the plate to support it - if not, you will squash them - I intend to fill mine eventually with expanding foam filler - I will lay wax paper or foil to the floor/carpet and allow the foam to adhere to the underside of the plates............

you can take your tongue out of your cheek, Harko - I'm sure you know it's the back of the seat cover - and for the record, there's probably more "hair" on my back than my head - I don't know, neck won't go fully around yet and too frightened to look in the mirror............

nice work there, they do look like chrome - at a fraction of the cost too, im sure
also more rewarding, as youve done them yourself

i had my exterior mouldings polished, also came up like chrome
sounds like a guy could save some money on polishing, with the right tools of course

just given up with mine - far easier with a regular #4 when it starts to annoy....

Guess we get the slick look, women get the gravity look............ age is a very cruel leveler......
