Dave Bootleger's SCC EH Van
Re: Dave Bootleger's SCC EH Van
Do you have a part number for the mirror Dave ? I use an old rear view mirror as a shaving mirror - will check the part number tonight just on the off chance
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

The diff has been out cleaned sanded, painted and put back in as has my recycled exhaust system.
All the engine bolt on accessories have been painted and will be put on tonight. Whilst looking for something else in the shed I found some nos eh hubcaps.
I may run the stock rims with crossplys.
Im still hunting a factory nasco rh mirror. I really thought one would turn up by now.
I guess the swap is on saturday.
IT is Tim an SCC special order hi po emergency response model.
Designed and executed by the same designers at holden as the ek prototype.
Seroiusly its only lowered with twin carbs.

You know what I hate. When you buy the repo holden oil filter and when you tighten it up "Made In China" is at the top.

Re: Dave Bootleger's SCC EH Van
Well I gave it a good go but I didnt make the show from friday to sunday night I only had one ans a half hours sleep.
I worked on it all saturday night.
Even at six am I thought I could make it.
Various things went wrong with the mechanicals which took me away from bolting things on.
Its almost done. I took it for a drive yesterday arvo. It has a few bugs but drives really well.
I want to thank stewart and russell for giving up their time to help me.
The van looks really cool. I reckon it would have been a hit at the show.
Next show the eh fiftieth.

Re: Dave Bootleger's SCC EH Van
Ive had a bit of a set back with my project this week.
After a massive couple of weeks and almost finishing the car I woke up monday morning with my back in a mess. Ive gone to the shed everyday to get into it but frankly its been too painful and ive had to go back to bed.
I did manage to fit the tailgates. I had to cut the rh frame.
I didnt factor in the clearance needed as the door gets closed when I remade the doors.
Maybe ill do some more tomorrow.
I really want to see this thing done and show it off.

Hang in there Dave.
I know what your going through with having a bad back. My years as a mechanic hasn't done me any favours either.
Push on. I can only hope its a little warmer for you up there as the concrete floor in my shed is freezing and I'm old and stupid and resist using a creeper when I should.
Your van looks a treat so far and I cant wait to see the finished result.
Quality doesn't come quickly; that's my excuse!
Hope your better soon.

Re: Dave Bootleger's SCC EH Van
My offsider turned up today and I felt well enough to have another go at the car.
He gave me a hand to take off the lh door and rh tailgate so I could finish off the trimming they needed to line up properly.
I rewelded the edges and got them in primer.
I also made the wooden floor for the cargo area.
I had a play around with tuning. I have asked a question re the carbs in the engine thread.
We also made a start on harvs colleen green fb sedan.

Re: Dave Bootleger's SCC EH Van
You know sometimes I think some projects are never meant to get finished.
Whilst working on harvs car a gust of wind blew through my workshop picking up a panel, blowing it across the workshop and into the quarter panel of my van. Now I have to paint the quarter again.
Back to the drawing board I suppose.
