Nice job on the chrome.
Who did you use, as I'm getting little closer on my build and will need to bumper and indicators done soon.

Yep...... That is what has happened to mine Clay. The nut in the bonnet is stuffed and the metal is damaged so the adjuster has been pushed up into the bonnet.Errol62 wrote: Mon Sep 10, 2018 6:39 amThose bolts tend to seize and snap off. I used the guys at A Class Metal Finishers. Have always been happy with their work and help/advice for various jobs.

Put the ute to work as I was on garden compost/mulching duty today
Said to the bloke yep tip it in........ whilst I and my daughter held the tarp. Only problem was someone forgot to check the direction of the wind
, so daughter got covered in compost dust.
My Mrs suggested I should I change my forum user name to "In the Garden"
oh well earned a few brownie points.........

I don't go mad loading it up. The rear leaf springs (6 leaves) are good having been reset at some stage. The compost load was about 0.35 T and that was fine. The max I've carried is about 0.4 T of sand and that would be the limit in terms of brakes/suspension.

I would fit 350kg firewood in my sedan going back. Looked really cool super low like that with sedan springs and 2” lowering blocks already. Had to watch the braking distance. It is a shame there is nowhere good to reset springs in Adelaide now. My neighbor sends his to Tasmania.

Hey Folks,
On the clubs two day run a couple months ago the speedo gave up. When I got home I had a bit of a look and the inner cable had busted. Tracked down a replacement inner for the sum of $3.00. Fitted that in and took it for a spin around the block, but the speedo was all over the place. Before I got home it gave up again.
Pulled the cable again and discovered a rather twisted mess of inner cable as well as it broken at the speedo end. Time for a closer look. I noticed the speedo cable had a rather tight radius where it entered the firewall behind the master cylinder. When I attempted to spin the speedo head with my fingers I couldn't move it! Time to get another inner cable and pull the speedo out.
The speedo drive was very tight, so I dismantled the speedo following Harv's thread http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/viewtop ... lit=Speedo, but noticed my speedo was slightly different. With a little bit of fine oil and a clean it was all good and ready to go.
Made up another cable and thought I will crimp the end on with my pliers. Unfortunately I busted it off. So I ended up making a square drive out of brass and soldering it onto the cable. Refitted the cable passing it in front of the master cylinder and now have a working speedo again.

Great result Stephen. There are two different speedo heads. One labeled just Holden, the other VDO.
Your inner cable solution is excellent mate. I’ve got a box of speedos if you need one.
