It’s all good. I just need to do some work so I can post something. Got a few days off but the back yard jungle is encroaching.

No 1 body member is chock a block with sandy loam. Image There is an extra drain hole on the passenger side. Might have to block up these GMH design intake portsImage once I get things clean and tidy on the inside.

I reckon I'm gonna fill those 'intakes' with Sikaflex 227 on Leroy too actually. Thanks for the reminder

Thinking about how to get inside to clean them out. Probably have to cut holes in the floor.

Hey Clay,

Just drill some holes about 20mm with a hole saw from the inside, hose out dirt and use that later for fish oiling etc, nice rubber grommet and your done

Grommets, that’s a great idea Greg. I’ll do the same for the sills.

Found 3/4” and 7/8” blank groms at local mitre ten. Also 19mm and 22mm hole saws to match. The 3/4” groms look to be about right to sit on the raised pressing above the cross member. Plenty of room to get in there with garden hose and air nozzle. Vacuumed out more loam. The car must have come off some pretty reasonable country going by the stuff I’m finding. At least it is dry and loose do not too hard to suck. Image

With the no one body member is pretty well cleaned out I got to work on the handbrake crossmember mounts. Cut out both sides to reveal crush panel and cleaned it all out as best I could. Wire brush, dymark rust reformer and zinc gal. Gal to back of patches as well so in theory it’s all pretty well protected but I’ll get some fish oil in there eventually. ImageImageImage I’ve passed a milestone in that I am now working on the passenger side . This is most of itImageThere are a couple of other wee holes to fill. Not too bad really.

In the midst of all the sparks flying I have been emptying out the fuel tank! Pretty confident I’ve drained it out and now I am using my shop vac to blow through the filler neck in a bid to de-fume. Image After several minutes fuel vapor continues to condense on my finger nail when held in front of the drain hole. I will have another go when I get back home from work trip next week.

heaps good stuff happening there Clay. Don’t blow yourself up with the fuel tank shenanigans! Are you just draining it of old fuel or does it needs a repair?

Oh yeah, I’m just draining it to take out for the floor repair. Thankfully it is in pretty good order, with a small dent on the rear wall on the passenger side of the tow bar tongue.
