ACF50 is used in the aviation industry, and the local motorcycle fraternity are also using it so it is available here.

Will be easy to patch up. I can rust convert a lot of the areas that are just pitted. I can give the subframe legs a really good clean out while it is off. Make sure it is all well protected. Easy to clean and work around the motor and box too.

Very elegantly done. I would never have thought of treating the master cylinders as part of the subframe and unbolting them at the firewall though . . .

Now I can see they have trimmed the firewall seam to clear the back of the head on the red motor. They also clearanced the handbrake lever crossmember for some reason. I think that the front engine mounts are a bit tall, causing the gearbox extension housing to point downward enough to foul. If the red stays I will remedy and make sure pinion and mainshaft axis are parallel.

you may as well get rid of all that dirty red gear and put in something thats meant to be there

It is pretty tempting to leave the 186 in there.

Love your work Clay keep going at it mate it isn't going to slow you too much from your end goal.

If you need new mounts contact Pete Mallaby on the FE FC Forum he makes new HR correct mounts (sell on ebay too) from drawings I supplied him, this is what I use for the V6's as they take the V8 rubber engine mount and look period correct.

Got a workshop manual at Willunga swap yesterday. Good detail on some of the differences to EK like the Bosch headlights. Also that only the specials came standard with indicators.

Borrowed no 2 daughters Derwents and coloured in the wiring diagram.

Always inspired to see what you are up to with the ute. Now that you have coloured in the wiring diagram you will be able to wire in the accessories (radio, extra horn, back up lights.......).

Depends how far you want to go Clay but you can grab a complete new harness from Vintage wiring in Ringwood for around 600$ - complete with light sockets and whatever accessory loops you need added.

Yes the crusty old wiring tends to get brittle and oxidised. It would be well worth the $600 to have it all new. Reverse lights on commercials use the indicators. I did have a reverse switch on one of my fare columns but not sure it is all there still. When I had the M20 4 speed in my sedan I rigged up a spotlight out back under the bumper with a toggle switch. I’m not sure this is legal. Got pulled over by the local walloper one night driving through Kadina just to tell me hey mate you’ve left your spotty on. Maybe audible alarm would be the go. The best thing about the spottie and the real reason I fitted it was to flash following drivers who failed to dip their high beams. Usually after I had overtaken them. I went everywhere at 80mph in those days.
