Re: Wilma FB project
I'm surprised too Patrick. Upholsterer was supposed to treat base for rust as part of the job. When I went to pick it up he hadn't done it. Not a big problem though undid bottom vinyl and treated the

. This was one of the things that made me think that because of the location of rust that car had been in a fair bit of water.

To change the topic completely
, in my windscreen fitting , I used Better Auto rubbers on both screens and found they fitted well. Fitted a Rare's rear window rubber first but had the pull cord at the top and found that to get this window to fit, it needed the cord to start at the bottom so the glass could drop down into the the channel. Pulled the whole lot out and rather than deal with the mess used a nice clean Better Auto rubber I had on hand. Second time round it went in much easier, but did take a lot of fiddling to get it fully seated on the bottom corners. Also, I used the Wurth mastic that Clay recommended and it was very much easier to clean up than normal mastic.

Geez, Tim's just about painted a whole car in the time it's taken me to get the rear seat swab installed!
I think I've upset the trim gods 'cause everything I tried to do - from getting the arches trimmed, to fitting the back parcel shelf (3 goes at getting the shape right
), to breaking off one of the seat tabs and having to make a new fastener has turned out to be very hard going. Rear flooring mat and rest of back seat and then heating out a few more hoodlining wrinkles next.
Saw a French film about a girl and a donkey last night
. Good distraction and first cinema experience for a long time.

Re: Wilma FB project
Rear underfelt and repro mat and scuff plates went in easy. Rear seat finally in. Somewhere comfy to doze off now when no one is looking.
Not looking forward to taking off rear doors to install outside rubbers, but that's the next job. I keep looking wistfully at the channels wondering if I could do it with the doors on....
As an aside: grabbed a NOS set of horn contacts from evil bay. $35 seemed like a bargain.

Now you just need to reverse-engineer the bronze contact and get a few dozen made . . .

Re: Wilma FB project
Has anyone got some photos that show how the sedan rear door outer rubbers are installed? Just want to be certain about where/how they pass the hinges. I took this one before disassembly but it doesn't show me much. Many thanks

Re: Wilma FB project
Looks like mine Brett and this was not removed when it was last resprayed.
Not sure about the bottom hinge - looks like I already removed part of it?

Brett,
Scott's photo is good. As a final guide, the B-pillar face of the rear door has recesses for the hinges. You need to route the rubber so it goes around the inside of the recess. Particularly important for the lower hinge.
Rob
PS - original equipment front door seals have a wide lip from the waistline down. If you install the aftermarket front door seals square in the B-pillar groove, they won't seal against the front door. You'll need to cant them inwards quite a way to make contact with the door frame.

Re: Wilma FB project
Many thanks for the picture Scott and advice Rob. Still not fully clear about route over/around bottom hinge- anyone got something closeup of bottom hinge rubber route?
Rob, when you say 'cant' do you mean angle lip out towards door at the bottom?
