i seem to remember you (or burnsy) have tank issues not just with the sender unit however...
I've got my original tank up the back shed if you want it to try and sort yours out mate just come get it....not sure what condition it's in but from memory it's pretty solid!
Cheers mate!
infact my tank seems to leak quite a bit. I just have no idea how to get the thing in or out

It should be as simple as disconnect the filler neck unbolt/screw all the bolts /screws,disconnect lines and sender unit, get underneath and push out with your feet and it should pop...
Happy to give you a hand one day if you want to swap them over, not sure if there's a specific type of sealant to use when putting it back in, anyone shed anymore light? Also the cheapest way to test a tank for leaks...
Cheers

you don't need a bigger tank you just need to stop and fill it more often

ok im not having good thoughts...
today I almost died in this thing with my little sister in the car.
Was driving through Northbridge and heard a clunk, I thought i ran over some metal object on the road and i didnt see anything obvious behind me so I kept going....
Coming up to a set of traffic lights at the bottom of a hill near my house i eased on the brake pedal and had no response, my handbrake had previously snapped sooo i had no idea what to do... i took another pump and luckily the car stopped as i almost went through.
After that i planned to drive out of the intersection and stop and take a look but the brakes started working fine again :S
As i pulled into my driveway however the brakes werent working at all and i rolled to a stop...
There is just so much wrong with the car, rust, interior, general body work, dodgy repairs... Im 4gs in debt with the motor in it and cant afford to keep fixing these things.
Having dirty thoughts of selling it and buying a nice coupe or something... maybe a v8... i dno what to do
Id feel guilty if i sell it cos ive been working for an old car since i was 6 years old. All you blokes regret selling your first car cos of all the good times you have had in it... I dno what to do
I dont like the colour, that has to change - i dont have the money, needs re-upholstering - cant afford, needs nicer wheels - cant afford....
The other day i got stranded at school cos the fuel pump pissed out my gas tank all over the road too.....
something with a nice interior n body, which runs well would do me fine...
AHHHHHHHHHHH

Good times/Bad times.
It might sound weird but it is often the bad/worst things that makes cars or experiences the most memorable.
Fix the brakes and persevere if this car is your dream, the shit will turn to strawberry jam if you have the patience and the will.
Otherwise you can the learn the "I wish I never sold that car" lesson that most of us have

Stick it out man.
I had to neglect my FB while finishing yr12, perhaps you should shelve yours until you have finished exams in a little while?
You can work during the holidays and put a big dent in your debt.
Uni doesn't go back until Feb, so lots of time to work on the EK.
Don't be discouraged, just buy a $200 shitter to drive while the EK is having a sad.
That's what I would do anyway

yea j, get the 200buk shitter 4cyl, then you will realise how good the ek is

Totally agree with what the others said J. You'll regret it if you sell now..you love your car!!!
Maybe just temporarily till your studies are over, there's no stress/emotions involved, pop it away if you can't get the essentials repaired. You have heaps on your plate as it is with the HSC so maybe you're not in the right decision making frame of mind right now?? If you still feel the same once school is over, then you'll know you've had your fun and want to move on to something boring oops I mean modern to drive....hehe
At the end of the day, it's up to you but we all know how much you love your car and to be honest, I don't want to hear another "I'm kicking myself for selling it" story like stinky mentioned. There's too many of those stories floating around here already.

Ohh duh, almost forgot....
I passed (Dad's advice) on an immaculate cherry red EK sedan for my first car. Was only 3g's. Ended up with a Hyundai Sports Coupe which blew up on me less than a year later and almost cost the same as the cherry red EK to be repaired. I remember thinking back then "I'd rather repair/look after an EK than a piece of modern crap"
Then again as people have told me, it was a Hyundai, so maybe not the best example
