Mick, I had the same thoughts looking at the trim.
The FE-FC guards are smooth so no issues.
Today I'm tackling the drivers door, add baily channel, manipulate the glass in and fit the power window mech.

The strip may look ok on the other guard as the curve bit will be on top ?
Have you wrecked the paint already around the rectangular blinker hole ?

They may have Holden script on them, I think, which would be upside down. Hard to tell from the photo.

Can you lift the rear of the strip up a smidge and move it forward so the belly of the trim fits into the pressing in the guard ???

I have put the trim on the backburner for now.I do have the original tim as backup.
Still working on the fast glass to free it up.
After a chat with Neil aka "Firekraka" and a glazier, I think I have a solution.
Firstly I have cut the baily channel to reduce the contact on the glass. Cut about 4 mm off the inside.
Purchased a can of silicone and sprayed the baily channel.
The glass now slides up and down with a little of force.
I will leave it a couple of days for the rubber to " bed in" and see how it goes. Fingers crossed this works.

What's the thickness of the glass mate ? My theory is the later model bailey channel as per your pic is designed for newer cars with thinner glass ??

Original glass is 3/16" or 4.7mm
The new glass is 5mm so a little thicker.
The glazier said they could grind / bevel the glass but this needs to be done before it is toughened.

Hey Rog, that Bailey looks different to what I used on Frank I don’t remember mine having that “Flap” piece inside it.

Update on the door glass.
Purchased silicone spray and use a heap on the baily channel.
Work the glass up and down manually and then let it sit of a couple of weeks.
Repeated the silicone spray and now have sliding glass.
Next is to hook up the power window mech and hope the motor will move the glass.

I have been playing with the steering arms, that is reshaping these to clear the tyres and match up to the steering rack.
I'm happy with the results so fitted wheels and did a redneck wheel alignment. All good so I thought until I dropped the ute down on it's own wheels.
Front tyres hitting on the guards. I will probably down size to 15x 6"

Roger, remind me what front brakes you are running ? If they are HQ or Commodore you might get away with those rims if you go to P76 rotors ??

Redneck wheel alignment, no way !
I have gotten sick of the deer in the headlights look when you rock up to aligner and ask for a wheel alignment so I do all my own now.
Its quite easy if you understand the values and it can be done with simple tools, I also have wheel alignment degree plates which was the dearest expense, but a string line a level and some know how it's fun and rewarding. Wheel base, toe in/out camber and caster can all be done on the floor.
Anyhow Roger those wheels look good, I have 15x6 on the front of mine with P76 discs, it rubs ever so slightly on the drivers side, the guard is a bit different in shape but you cant tell just looking at it.
I like the look of the car and colour and yes the tail lights do fit well.

I'm using VS commodore brakes with 15" wheels so clearance issues with calipers. I have the Stub Tech 50mm drop spindles
Off set is 15+ not the normal commodore 43+.
Looking at the photo the wheels do seem a little out at the top. Something to check tomorrow.
