Blacky wrote:Why couldnt you run a diagonal with the lower bars of your 4 link ? - that will give you back your clearance for your pipes
Thanks Blacky, but apparently the "triangulated" 4 link is not as good for what I want to do with it and usually the triangulated bars are the top bars on the 4 link.

I have done the prefit on the Booster and master cylinder, Brake pedal has been moved to the centre of the "firewall to dash" brace so I have plenty of clearance on the bonnet hinges, in the "final-final" fit (after some $##%$&*) ... it is now closer to the hinge.
I have "peened" the metal on the brace so there is no contact with the top of the pedal shaft:

Also made up the mounts for the Torana "outriggers", welded nut to 6mm doubler plate and closed the "outrigger mount" in with plate to make it look neater:

Internal view, clearance has been allowed for between the "new mount" and the outrigger mount for the polyurethane bush that will be fitted:

Also changed the Powerglide pan to increase ground clearance:

And prefit check on the polished S/S uni joints and 3/4" DD intermediate steering shaft:

Gary, Can I make a suggestion................

2 Poster Hoists are pretty cheap now, give yourself : early Christmas, belated valentines, or birthday present................but do yourself a favor and buy a hoist. you will love it and never regret it. Will always come in handy, especially in the toy shop you have. :) :)

Mate cars looking awesome.

Regards John

John, the 2 post hoist is on the "wishlist", there is a method in my madness, the car is still suspended between the rotisserie because I am doing all the prefit.... motor, trans, diff, tailshaft, exhaust, exhaust heat shielding, steering, brake lines, fuel lines (BIG... ), etc.............. The reason for it still being on the rottis' is next week all the bits will be removed and she will be rolled on her side to do all the final welds on the "new bits that have been tacked on" and final painted underneath...... we have been doing some tests at work to see what will cover "body deadner" and have found that one of the products we use on the Alloy boats that does it perfectly (no leaching and cures completely), we tried chipping it off and it is almost bullet proof, available in virtually any colour, is 2 pack and a completely sealed finish so it will be very easy to keep clean.

The blocks are only to hold the wheels at ride hieght during all the "prefit".

Also doing the headers (so they don't go through the guards) ........    been puling my hair out over that one!!!!!!!! still not finished but getting there  .

Thanks for the post GMH-EK

Tailshaft has been made and had the prefit. Closed in the "new bonnet latch gismo" with plate. Selecting the "best" stuff to be chromed, will be all packed and sent before the end of the week. I have also cut the back seat to fit around the tubbing, need some steel rod to form the "new" contours then the rear seat can be finished off.

The car will be completely stripped this week as the "bolt ons" (doors, guards, boot, bonnet, scuttle panel, valance etc.... will be finished with paint by the end of the week so the shell is next !!!!! :D . Couple of things to finish of this week after the car is stripped again such as filling unwanted holes in the firewall, exhaust heat shielding brackets, weld off trans brackets etc.................

Will the shell is in paint the Diff and frontend will be finish welded and painted in 2 pack.

Final strip down has begun, car is 100% supported on the rottiserie, blocks/stands are only to set ride height and keep the body level during prefit (note the "modified back seat in place for trial fit and feel!!) :D :D :D :

enjoy.................. :)

man I thought I did a lot of modifying on mine,I am but a lowly amateur compared to your engineering level :)Oh and I know it`s a bit late but there was an ek here a few years back running in nostalgia drags and he had a set of billet bonnet hinges with struts that looked great and were compact, dunno where he got them didn`t catch up with him.
