FINALLY!!!! Introducing Sam's FB ute -

nice bit of news.
Spoke to previous WA owner today. For those of u that dont know, my ute came from WA. David from WA bought it off his uncle, the uncle bought it brand new. Thats the uncles name in the Service book. (Mr H C Hart)
Any way I thought it would be nice for the records if I could have a photo of Mr H C Hart & the ute. David said he's sure the ant would have one as the uncle has passed away. Hes going to as her for one. Fingers cross??
He told me it was a very sad experience see his ute beeing driven away on the tilt tray.
He asked that when he next comes to sdyney, if he could come visit the ute, Told him it would be a great pleasure to share that with him...

ditto that...a few years back I tracked down the original owners son of my FB and met up with him in the FB...he gave me an old pic of my FB taken in the '60s with his Mum & Dad...yer I love all that nostalgia stuff... for me it makes the car that much more special. To know where its come from & a bit of its history n the people that love it too.

FB mad. yep! exactly. all part of the story.
It's like my ej. bought it off a fella. Was his mother for 20 yr. all paper work to match too. He interview me to make sure I wasnt going to butcher it. When we did the deal he bought it round, we had photos with him & I. Left me a note in the glove box say it was a part of there family, now its a part of mine!!!!!

Yep, a bloke in town bought an FX ute in 1950 and passed away only a few years ago.
His widow conducted an interview to establish which one of the buying contenders would look after her departed husbands ute in the same way he looked after it when he was alive and then sold it to the one she felt would best follow the way her husband treated the ute.

Yep plan on taking mine back to the bloke who I got it off, told him my plans and he cringed

finally posting sams fb ute
Hits home with us as we bought our panelvan from Mr David Hughes and took it to Ballarat to show him after the rebuild and he was totally rapt. After spending a few hours talking to such a legend, guess who forgot to take a photo of him with the car. We are supposed to get wiser as we get older.

My EK came with the glove box candy as SJ referrs to it and the surname in the documentation still comes up in searches through the town it came from.
All being well someone will connect with the old girl ???
Well done Sam - when I exchanged a couple of emails with the seller of your ute he seemed like pretty decent fella and sent on heaps of pics as well.

OK! Thanks to Sam's post I am inspired so I called the few Haidley names in Warwick and hit paydirt of sorts first go getting onto the nephew of the original owner. He runs a coach business and remembers the ute quite well.
Turns out my ute was bought by the fellows uncle Fred who had only had sulkies until he was 60 and they convinced him to buy a ute to do his work!
The late Fred Haidley took delivery of the car from Shelley Motors (now Deighton Motors under the Lane Motor Group) on January the eighth 1963 and from what his nephew said, never had an accident - not bad for someone who began driving at 60!!!
Hopefully they are able to provide more information and stories. The guy I spoke to at Deighton's is also keen to assist me and thinks he can possibly get some info, and the mechanic has been there since Noah was a boy and may also recall the old girl apparently. They were all friendly people and very happy to help.
