got home this afternoon after touring Victoria a bit.
the only casuality on the old girl appart from some bad fuel, a torn flapper ouch

The FB purred along at 65 -70mph no worries

rang Dr Terry this afternoon who has the FB. Surprise surprise...I didn't do the timing gear...apparently the keyhole/key? has snapped...holds the cam in place? my lack of knowledge is embarrassing sometimes...

The fibre gear which was replaced about 6-7 years back when GEM motors did the rebuild is as good as new.

Hey Stewart, don't want to put a mozz on you but better to replace the timing gear with a steel one while it's stripped down.

I've not long returned from Bendigo ( then a 3 week holiday in Warburton Vic ) and my FB did approx 3000 kms with no probs at all ( although I'm running a 149 red ......... it kinda sorta helps a bit ).

Hope the quick "tune up " Steve and I did underbonnet at Castlemaine wasn't a contibuting factor

The other two tone grey is still in Junee

The timing gear is almost in I hear

The movement of the timing in Stewart's car, was just part of the Symptom that something was wrong.

Hi Bill, the thought did cross my mind but the fibre is going back in. I like living life on the edge...

Terry - as Steve said the lack of power was due to the key being so worn down so the impromptu tune up at Castlemaine was not the problem. Good to hear your trip was trouble free.
