After thr rear ender had been repaired it was time for another paint job.
I had wanted to do a purple flake job (like on that EK bike I built) but i figured with its track record of smash hits, I would rather not spend the time nor money. This prooved to be quiet profetic.
So into the shed she went for a jam job.

Thats my brother Pete doing the masking. Yes, he works for Toyota but this comes in handy especially since I wan to get one of those Aurion supercharges for my flattie. Oops.
Pete has an FB sedan that won top modified at the 1st FBEK nats. Car hasen't changed since then although the amount of times he drives it, I think it still has leaded fuel in the tank.

A satin purple was the go with black flash & pinstriped flames.
I use to be in the Kustom Kroozers club & in this pic,on one of their runs, is my freshly painted crate next to Darryl Millers FC panel. This car had a custom grille & inverted tail lights.

This is one of my fave pics, it has a real 60's postcard feel to it.
We stayed in this dive at Coolangatta on one of the Kustom Kroozer gigs.

About 5 mins in to meeting Rob last Saturday.. i found out the wreck at Neils that i've seen a few times was infact THIS car.. Ahh.. No front end / subframe left on it.. and Neil wouldn't let me buy the doors.

Real pity but unless Rob grafts a roof off another EK (And after seein some of the stuff hes capable of.. both here and at his place.. no doubt it wouldn't be hard for him.. The car will remain at Neils.

Apparently it went up there.. and a Gum tree fell on top of it. Although its been moved around a few times.. shit gets moved around up there and i really have no idea how.. between Robs car and a few others.. they get shifted.. but still appear as if they've been in the same spot for years.

Just found this detail pic of the fender skirt scoop, when the car was bergundy. Its amazing how many people thought they were air intakes for a rear engine, especially after a bit of encouragement from me.
My favorite question was "how do you change a flat tyre"? My favorite answer to this was, that the tyres were solid rubber and when the tread wore out I had this grid that plugged in with an old jug chord (you know the ones) and when it heated up you just drove the car over it & presto, instant tread. (This was a nasco part of course).

Then came that fatefull day, a day just the same as every other day, driving to work, OH SH......... a 4x4 ute with bullbar came through a give way at full noise then turned right at me.
Ive never been able to work out a morons thought process, you know the ones, they see you in your car & just have to put on a display of wheel spinning heroism, (they are usually "no necks in commodors") or the ones that have to overtake you at all costs then to stop & make a right hand turn.
Well this moron left me a shattered mess in the middle of the road. He even had the hide to have the same birth date as me.
I can remember turning off the ignition and opening the passenger door because someone was coming to help (god bless him) & thought they may have a problem with the shaved handles. I was calm & shock had set in, there was no pain.
