After a phone call from Fingers I was inspired to get back into the garage.

Tried my hand at beating out the panels that the s#!t beaten out of them with a log splitter. I forgot to do a before pic. Will do that next time for all the other panels



Still have a few more hours to go on this panel but it looks much better now.

Heya Fingers...

Not much progress, I have been busy at work so not much free time to play and still waiting for my dad to come over to help.

So far I have pushed her out of the garage, drained to old oil from the sump, left her for a week and then put new oil back in. The old oil was pretty dark but not milky so at least the water didn't get into it. Although I could see metal in it which can't be good.

I also drained the coolant and flushed the radiator and drained the petrol tank. The fuel wasn't as bad as I thought so I ran it through the lawn mower for a few hours, the rest I kept in a pan and its evaporated away, I was going to pour it on the road and light it like in back to the future.

Hopefully will be back on her soon

Just a quick update for anyone who's interested or willing to offer advice/help...

Pushed the old girl out of the garage yesterday and finally fitted the carbie Fingers has lent me. We tried for ages to get the engine started but ended up running the battery flat, it coughed and spluttered but will not run. We think its because we are bypassing the fuel tank and just not getting enough fuel in. Next time we try to start it, going to fit a motorcycle fuel tank to the fuel pump to see if that works...

I just want to hear it run....

Also my dad has taken the bonnet away with him, he is going to do some minor repairs and put down the new colour on it, will be good to see it on.

While I wait for all of the above, I'm still beating all the dings in her panels.

I'm using a carlton dry stubbie for a fuel tank at the moment and having no dramas with supply!

And here is was using a VB stubby.... I was using the wrong type!!!!

Have you tried cleaning up the electricals?
plugs
points
rotor button
leads
etc....

I thought the electricals my be a bit dodgy so I got a new dizzy cap and rotor. Then I decided to take out the plugs and measure the gaps and they were seized in the engine good and proper. I forced them so hard I took some skin off my knuckles when #1 finally shifted, but then 2-6 basically fell apart??? Have 2 left in the engine to try to get out... Looks like a new set of plugs for me to buy

I think the leads are ok cause before I broke all the spark plugs we accidently swapped some leads and the engine backfired so I'm guessing the spark is getting in there.

Going to try to get it started next weekend.
