yep you need fine scratches for 2pak acrylic actually bites/melts into the paint under that is why you usually have probs with acrylic if what you are painting over is a bit dodgey, or that's my understanding
i actually heard a storey once where a guy was getting his car painted by a back yard guy who was quite good at his job, owner turned up to have a look at progress and was shocked, happy and upset when he saw this real shiney grey car sitting there :? painter asked what do you think ? guy said uummm it looks great but it wasn't suposed to be grey :shock: :( :oops: painter replied noo that's just the primer he actually buffs the primer useing no compounds :lol: :lol: :lol:

:) with acrylic you want the undercoat as smooth as you can get it
helps get a good final result here are some photo's of when i did the fb
you can see the shine on the undercoat :shock:
and the paint hasnt fallen off yet :)

I wonder if it gets scratched weather the paint will chip off , I thought it needed something to etch to but possibly the thinners gives enough bight and its all chemical ,dunno ...
Id imagine 2 pack will stick to a dusty road :)

i've got some bits of leather that i used to cover something when we painted my '63 impala about 7-8 years ago and the paint on them is still stuck firm and shinney :shock: with no prep or primer :lol:

finished repairing the roof it had some small dents deep scatches and patches of suface rust
its now ready to undercoat .
i also picked up some deep dish dress rims today for the torana rims from the tip
i think they could possibley be original gtr xu1 dress rims :shock: got 4 for $10 :shock:

few more pics tailgate is done painted the inside today ready to paint the outer side
tomorrow also cleaned up the HYDRA BADGE and finished off the left side doors
ready to paint and almost finished the front left gaurd
ohhhh yeah love when you can see progres happening :thumbsup:

Hi bit more progress on the ek the tailgate is now painted just needs clear
and the roof is done 2 days of good weather so made the most of it
and got some painting in anyway some pics :thumbsup: :thumbs
