Rebuild kits for a turbo grey motor???

Includes fuel system, cooling system and exhaust.

forgot to say, I would go with the red 202 that i got sitting here lol . but i aint got a HR front to use for it, Plus i wont know where to get one plus a EH sump and pickup aswell. I looked all over Ebay can't find anything lol.

But i can see why people do use the 202 as i just saw on with a To4e turbo making 350hp lol.

It might be cheaper to use the red 202 in the long run....

Hr fronts ends are not impossible to find, nor are the sum + p/ups... But if your going that far, might as well put a v8 in it :twisted:

Mate, I'm with you on this one. So long as you pay for what ever it is you are trying to achieve who knows where a project like the one you propose can end up?

When we look back on some of the engineering feats performed by back-yarders of all ages over the years in this country I don't think too many took heed of the nay sayers but instead just got on with it! This country has a rich history of achievements of all kinds often against stiff odds but they did what THEY believed in.

A great example at the moment is Jess Watson - a 16 year old who has sailed around the world SOLO and she and her parents were poo pooed all the way saying she shouldn't be doing it, shouldn't be allowed to do it and couldn't do it - but she is on the way to proving all of us wrong and good on her!

Go for it mate

Research as much as you can. Do some sketches, then working drawings of some sort. Perhaps dummy up what you want with cardboard or whatever and if you feel you can make it work - do it.

Are you looking at doing some sort of trade or engineering course?

PS - If you can rebuild a motorbike engine you should be able to do a grey. Just follow one simple principle DO IT ONCE AND DO IT WELL.

So Jarrod, When did you want to get that Grey Motor ? Its stored across town at the moment. As for Speed Equip !!! I might have a few bits you might like to play with and find what works for you! I myself had limited experiance when I started with these cars and have tried to reinvent the wheel on occasion. I settled with a nice combo of Period Speed with no major mods and a Kruiser that drives when I want to! I've included a pic of my engine bay to keep you inspired for that-Don't see that every day LOOK!!!-

also got a price on a rebuild kit for the grey motor and it's $900 for pistons,rings,gaskets and other stuff too that i forgot.

also i have had heaps of trouble finding a HR front end. can't find one anywhere ;l

Jarrod you got some advice- a lot more then you asked for if you ask me.
I remember asking a good mate who was a mechanic how hard it would be to put fuel injection on my commodore once and he said: "Nah mate you don't want to do that- you want to get yourself a cortina with a 250 crossflow, 350 holley, mild cam and extractors that will get you going quicker and cheaper!" :shock:
If you still decide to go ahead and turbo the grey then I'm sure you'll have fun doing it whatever the results- i get the impression you're a "HOW?" rather then "WHY?" person.
I think most of the advice in this post is invaluable but that doesnt mean you have to follow all of it.
Some people on this forum take their hobbies/jobs more seriously then others and have much higher standards but then they may have the experience and cash to maintain these standards. Do what you can with what youve got if it suits you- I'd only say if you're welding is questionable- mock it up with your welds (or even pvc or something else) and take it to a fitter to recreate for you.
If you really want to turbo your grey then don't be discouraged just go to it- but if it's just a pie in the sky idea then pick the nuts out of all the s@#$ above and go to THAT.

Personally I love the grey motor. I'm currently looking for a car to fit a turbo grey too. Yes it's not going to be quick. Heck a red turbo is still expensive and slow compared to an off the shelf 180sx etc but I want a turbo grey cause it's original and different. I'd love to turbo a cross flow head but when I have the $$ for the head I'll surely have the money for the billet crank and turbo setup.

If anyone has info/pics etc for turbo greys I'd love to see whats out there.
