Ute doing ute things, and new toy, 2500w electric chipper.
Totally agree Greg. I can’t bring myself to do that, but I have experienced axle tramp when taking off turning right. I looked at the gap and it’s more like 20mm. Got some fettling to do, as ever.

I have just this weekend received a DXF file of the Caltrac dimensions that Greg sent me - plan on getting a few sets laser cut next week
I bought the rod ends locknuts and spuds to weld into the pipe from Speedway motors a month or so ago so will be making a set of DIY Caltracs in the near future for the rattler

Gap is probably around 15mm. If I try and shim it the rod will end up touching the spring. But,

I’m told this will stick anything to anything
It even says so on the tube
10mm of conveyor belt rubber brings the clearance down to spec and should help quieten things.

That orta work - or shorten them up and move the snubber to under the front spring eye ????

Plan B is a good one. There is a surprising amount of force in a traction bar... enough to permanently deform spring leaves if the snubber is not under the eye.
Plan C is to unbolt the snubber and put washers between the rubber snubber and the steel arm. Needs enough snubber bolt length though.

They would be quieter if I shorten them up too. The EH springs they were made for must be a bit longer.

Went for a decent squirt up and down old Willunga Hill this morning, and barely a sound from the tramp rods with the extra rubber installed.
I detected only a momentary ping when jabbing the pedal out of bends in second, holding around 2800-3000 part throttle in second, up a 4% grade, then plant it. There is a tendency for the inside wheel to break traction a bit here. I could back the initial timing off a degree or two, but I’m not bothered by it. Next tank I will run it right out and put in 20 litres or so of 91. I expect I will need to back it off then.
I haven’t really tested the hooking up yet. I’m hardly game frankly.

Generally the driver side. But it was doing it prior, and I tend to feel more confident pushing the limit on right-handers.

Motor kept breaking down and suspected fuel starvation but I think the plugs look fine.
I did finish the drive compression braking down old Willy hill. If anything rear carb may be a touch lean.
