It was only leaving a 20c piece spot on the floor so I thought that’s about as good as it’s ever gonna get but after a drive around town yesterday there is a 6” puddle under it

Pulled all the innards out yesterday, going to fit a heater plus the reco AM radio and mount some speakers behind the seat for the CD player in the glovebox , also fitting a cruise control
Had to give the fresh air vent a birthday before the heater core goes over it , freed it all up and fitted a new gasket

Most kits seem to want a speed sensor signal though not the Autostrada perhaps.

This is an old school kit that still uses the magnet on the tailshaft trick, bought it off a mate who removed it from his 56ish F100

What sort of heater are you putting in mate, are you putting a poor mans heater core or a full Smiths (I think that's the brand) type one.

Poor man’s works a treat in my ute. Never bothered with the demister though.
I was hoping you were going to try one of the new cruise controls blacky.

demister tube holes on the heater are about 3/4" bigger diameter than the demister vents so I doubt i will be piddling about with vent tubes either - just crack both quarter windows and your windscreen is clear ......

Got a bit done today after a slow start due to overconsumption of certain liquids last night …..
While the underdash area was clear I figured it was a good time to sort out a niggle in the wipers - they were noisy and the drivers side was a bit funky- it was sloppy and sounded like it was going to fall off over 90km/h - it’s only been like it since the rebuild in 2010 …..
Checked it all out , removed the arm that bolts to the wiper motor and bent it a poofteenth in the vice so the nut didn’t hit the firewall - no more noise

Found the nut that holds the mechanism together was stripped so replaced it - much less slop

Drivers wiper arm still had about 3/4” movement in it - turned out it was the wiper arm itself , the pivot pin had movement in it so I took it off and peened the end of the pin over and now there is virtually zero movement

Then back to the heater - mounted the heater itself after reinstalling the vent door , cut holes in the sound pad and ran the hoses , fitted the valve into the head, then went to fit the temperature sensor into the thermostat housing and found the sensor is 1/2” BSP and the hole is 1/4” BSP
Look up the tapping chart and 1/2” BSP needs a 3/4” hole to tap and the biggest drill bit I have is 5/8” so had to McGyver it with a die grinder for the last bit
Trial fitted it and it all fit together quite nicely for once .
Went to fit the last piece of the puzzle - the 45 degree fitting into the water pump , and the bloody thing is 1/2”BSP and the fitting I made is 1/4”

so need to grab an adapter in the morning and then can refill it and find out where the leaks are …..

The coolant monster in that last photo looks angry, man.

Good job on the wipers, they can eventually drive you nuts with a clunk & knock in operation. Opportune time to fix whilst the heater goes in.
I have an intermittent control I am going to fit to the Ute the same as I have on the sedan……. one day
