Thanks so much fellas. There are a few options it turns out. I didn’t bother looking on the site, rather chat on the phone. The gadget I got was $495. It is something that has been niggling at me, the opportunity was provided by the cam failure, and there was money burning a hole in my fun account.

Here we goImageneed to drill put the firewall and pedal box to 36mm, relocate bolt centres inward 4.5mm either side and adapt the clevis.

And source the correct flare unions.Image
Glen said cams were ground yesterday. Just need to get over this moter of all flu's.

Be very interested to see how this goes , we just had to remove a very heavy and unwieldy gearbox and transfer case to change one of these after it imploded - an external setup would negate that , if this is a big improvement it would be worth considering seeing as it’s a 30 minute job to remove a gearbox in a certain FB ……

Slave hydraulic failure means gearbox out, which is a downside. They recommend dot 4 only by the way. There is no fork mechanism to fail though, which is the same scenario. I don’t know when I’m going to have the energy to climb under to pull the tail-shaft etc.

Picked up a billet flywheel and competition pressure plate I thought I may as well instal. Then I remembered mine was all balanced as an assembly with the crank, in my limited understanding. I mean it’s probably an overkill anyway. Being chromoly it is only 7kg against standard 11kg. The clutch may be slightly heavier than stock if anything. Driven plate was to suit dyno input so no use to me. You’ll probably guess where I got all this.

Hi Clay,
I have one of those slaves but in the tilton brand.
The secret is set them up with the correct measurements, once done they don't require anything else and to be honest you're more than likely going to rebuild your cam train again before the slave fails.

Keep us posted on your adventure !!

Cheers Greg. Yep 4-6mm to fingers achieved with conical spacers. Just a really neat thing. I probably should have shopped around but the torrie lads seem to swear by them. The unions are NPT, the same as the &*#@ master. Hard line will be 3/16” which should be ok seeing the speedpro line is 1/8” ID.

Mate Tim got me motivated. We were going to Dudley's last day, but decided to pull the motor.ImageHapply crank main journals and cam bearings look good.ImageThe rear main cap shell has a line in it.ImageI will replace all but the cam bearings seeing as I've got it apart. I'll replace the driven plate too. It is more eorn than I expected.

Surprised you didn't go to Dudleys yard for the last day - i would have loved to get there and pick some bits off those Vauxhalls for my 2 door project but other stuff took precedence

I planned to go but nothing I specifically needed. When my mate drove to my door and offered to spanner, that was it.
