Where did you get those flash subframe bolt covers from and how are they attached ?

Happy with myself cut the bottom's out of 4 stainless steel mugs today just the right size to cover the big rubber bolt mounts that hold the front end in looks good I put some masking tape around the bottom of the mug marked a line 1/2 inch up and cut the bottom off useing a cut off wheel in a dremil could use thin cut off wheel in angle grinder but found the dremil to be easer to handle just got to take it easy not to get it to hot or you will get burn marks in stainless wish I could post pictues to show how it was done. Thats a job I will have to lean in the new year cant lean to much at one time brain overlode

We make the subframe bolt covers here in my workshop, we use aluminium bar and machine it down to size, they have a short stem that goes into the top, we machine an O ring groove in them and this holds them nicely in place.
I have heard that some people glue them in but that makes it hard to get them out if you need to and the O Rings hold them really nicely.
I will take one out and take a photo for you if you like?

Had been off with the dreaded man flu for the last 2 days so I messed around in my workshop at home and fitted the wiring for the fuel pump and sender, Stripped from a VP harness I had, also fitted the gearbox harness and the shifter.


I had bought some 'Yellow Jacket' Blaster coils so fitted them up as well. Colour coding of course

Nice Neil, that shifter looks “tough” Are the coils a straight swap, or do you need to mod the mount?

Hi John the coils are a straight up replacement mate, there are a couple of companies making the uprated ones (Blasters), MSD make red ones (they go faster of course ) but are a bit more expensive, I have red ones in the FC but can't remember who I bought those ones from; and of course for Frank they had to be yellow

Well I finally made the decision regarding the wiring and have decided to go the same way that I did with my FC sedan.

I purchased a V6 Conversion wiring harness, which I received last week, and I have ordered an EK Ute wiring harness from Vintage Wiring Harnesses in Vic, they are going to separate the blinkers from the brake/tail lights and run a reverse light wire from the back into thew cab for me, takes 8 weeks but thats ok.

So I have been fighting with the engine wiring harness; because I'm trying to keep the engine bay as tidy as possible I decided to bring the V6 Conversions fuses and relays into the cab so I have to extend the 3 plugs that are normally on the drivers side of the V6 and bring them all around the passenger side; I'm going to bring the wiring into the cab through the gearbox tunnel.

It was too hard trying to sort it out on the table so I put one of my spare engines on the stand and then laid the harness on it.

At least my soldering is getting better

Hi Neil i am about to put a mega shifter in my car. how did you put the hole in the floor and not kink the cable. Do you need to drill the hole on a angle so the cable wont kink. Also did put the cable through the hole in the floor first then mount it to the Auto the cable has the fitting that bolts to the shifter would be hard to get through the hole in the floor. Thanks Gary. All good Neil i found if you read the instructions properly you find what to do

I had the cable on and off my Hurst Promatic a few times. Learnt the hard way that it is easy to snap off the gear indicator bar. It had a funky UNF thread that had me scouring my tap and die set for a while.

Yes it can be a bit tricky and as you say if you follow the destructions you will probably come out ok; I actually made a hole about 20mm for the cable to go through and put a rubber grommet around it to seal the hole, you might be able to see it in the photo.
I had to go back and adjust the angle of the selector mount as I did have a slight kink in the cable and it was making it a little hard to get the selector to move relatively freely.

Have been tryng to knock over some of the small things while waiting for my body harness and gauges to arrive, tracking tells me the gauges will be delivered from the states by the end of the week then I can finish the engine wiring harness and get it onto the engine in the car.

Have started putting the sound deadener in the cabin (no photo at the moment) I'm using a poor mans version of Dyna-Mat.

Fitted the headlights


And I have a pair of chromed VS SS rims (16's" is what I am going to run) 17' x 7.5" x 235's that I threw on the back to see what they were like; the powers to be won't pass them when it goes for inspection but I wanted to see what they looked like and if I had the room for the tyre width, they may have to make an appearnce after I get it licenced.
