I am more than a little interested to see how much of an improvement to the steering I gain. I’ve heard good reports. Stronger gearbox will be more fun. Look out diff and axles.

Yer I’m running one already. All the other steering components were new before I headed over your way last year. So with the box done it should be as good as it gets.

Interesting he guarantees the box for 12 months running standard 4 1/2” x 13” front rims, but only 3 months for anything else.

Finally some action. Engine only done about 12000km but the back of the rocker cover is a carbon sink. Typical red.ImageImage

Rear engine mounts are great traps for all sortsImage
Now to pull them and steering. I wish I hadn't had to roll the car off the ramps to clear the engine now.

Oil Leak Divining: If I read the oil stains on the harmonic balancer right, the oil leak isn't at the seal, but rather between the crankshaft snout and the harmonic balancer hub, including the keyway. I've found that coating the rear face of the balancer hub and the keyway slot with the head stud sealant (3835215) before installation is effective.

Something's wrong... there should be a lost 7/16" AF socket in there...

Cheers,

I suppose I should pull the balancer and apply sealant while I have the engine out. There is a list developing in my head that I’m doing my best to ignore.

Pulled seat and column and now modifying the tunnel, as little as possible.Image
The main issue to is on the driver side, contacting the bolts at the top of the side cover. Easily fixed with a bit of massaging. Driver side footwell, the lip where the inspection cover fits just touches the bellhousing also. Bit more massaging here.

Inspection cover just needs a bit of shrinking/clearancing where the top bellhousing to box bolts touch, and re-shaping the edges to match tunnel and footwell mods.

It is a pleasant surprise to see how well it fits. The repro rubber mat should sit fine and mods should be virtually un-noticable.
