Clay,

Harv, Greg and Brett have good bedside manner -

You'll probably need to retard the ignition timing a little to get rid of the random miss off idle. Make the adjustment with the engine running.

I'll give it a go although I did retard 2deg. Still room as currently about 7deg.

Having a look at the timing. Very hard to see the numbers due to the angle of view imposed by proximity of the radiator. Engine has blue timing cover and balancer. The timing was more like 13degrees. Retarded to 5 degrees and seems to have a loved the issue.

Thanks all round folks. I think Rob pinned it. I think I said s couple posts back the jugs needed some fettling, which they duly got.

Might try run some 91. I can't believe it wasn't pinging at 13degrees.

Grace's ute is the same. I carry a spanner in the right size for the tongue bolts, wrapped in rag and stashed in the rearmost bit of the spare wheel compartment. The tongue lives on the car most of the time, but quick to remove if she ever gets a flat. Figure a flat is a remote possibility, but needing to use the towbar is pretty frequent.

Have got a second spanner in that rag that undoes the spare wheel clamp bolt too.

Cheers,
Harv

That second should be 3/4" same as wheel brace.

From memory it's not that big on the spare wheel clamp... maybe 9/16AF. I haven't got a factory clamp, just a bit of bent steel and whatever standard type bolt fit the captive nut.

Cheers,
Harv

When I had a yoot, I didn't open the spare door for over 2 years !!!!!!

Spanner inside it a great idea.

The spare won't fit through the hole any way. Just I like things to be functional.

Back ones buffed up nicely. Whitewalls look good from 10 ft like the rest of the car.Image
