Can't say I haven't thought about it Harv. About 10km mainly rural. Depending if I have time after I get the throttle cable sorted I may get a couple of pipes past the draglink at least.

Week later they are now saying mid February. I will send off what I have here which looks ok. All has to come apart to do the shift conversion so he can work his magic on it while he is at it. Will be nice to have a strong gear box so I can tax the diff while I decide between both Warner and 28 spline trutrac.

Hey Clay, my Rares man in Canberra is telling me this week that Rares are no longer doing the steering box refurb, and only selling the kits with worm drive for DIY. Might pay to check again before you send it off.
And, the kits won't be available until late Feb 22

Agree with your information Brett. Refurb kit is what I've ordered. Meantime sent my best used components to Roger Hancock.

After some playing around I have decided that the original throttle linkage simply modified, will do the job and a bit easier for now. I think I will be having trouble getting wide open throttle either way as the carb throttle l ever sits r right on the manifold as is. I will need to come up with a pair of spacers to lift the carbs a bit higher but the guy that did the carbs didn't think they w would be necessary.

Also with all the jiggling of throttles etc th er e a ppears t o be a slight leak somewhere in the rear carb. To top things off I think the W clip may have slipped also so the butterfly are no longer synchronised. Anyway here is the setup I have come up with for now:ImageImage

Diplomacy helps, try it one day 8 )

Actually I replaced the bushes. They were down to metal but put new ones when I put the Torana diff in. I was more worried about them noticing the narrow diff/offset wheels set up.

How about dome updates on Valerie and the HT ute?

Hi Clay.

Similar set up.
Small springs on each carby and removed the big spring off the firewall.

This way it ensures return to idle stop on the carby.

Extension of the main level off the firewall gave me full opening.

Blackdog.

Thanks blackdog. Good idea extending the main shaft. It's a pity the X2 manifold has no provision for the secondary throttle shaft both your and Harv's setups use. Anyway my mate will make up some spacers, though no doubt you can buy them. Hopefully they will be thick enough for me to also port them for PCV.

Snicked up the weeping brake and fuel unions and the front wheel bearings.

Fitting the "rear calipers" to the drums might be interesting.

I've got an original manufacturer's injection system and injectors here (McGee was an original manufacturer  ) but methinks that's not quite what they meant.

Cheers,
Harv
