Bit obsessed I'm afraid. Don't look at gumtree Brett, dangerous. Had to pull stuff out to get to rod bolts so thought I would see if I can get rid of some of it.

Managed to go surfing, have a few beers, eat and sleep and even go to work. Just need to bolt up flywheel, clutch and transmission and drop in now.

Ok got this on recommendation of Glen.
Taken next two days off work. Just need a half metre of 5/8 heater hose and two clamps and slot her in.

Great Stuff Clay,

Two days should have you up and running !!!

Its a bit unfortunate but I can't make it this year, new job and no holidays.

You should have a blast driving the old girl across the country.

Thanks Greg that's too bad mate. Main concern at this stage is damaging the glossy rocket red. I use a sling around the motor rather than hanging off the manifold or unrated bolts. May have to wrap it in gladwrap.

Installing input shaft bush and it is very tight in the crank. Needs to sit in flush with flywheel mounting face? All those I've seen have been out of high mileage engines and quite loose.

Looks like I need to add new flywheel bolts to my list. Can only find 4 and driven plate has machined the heads down.ImageImage

I just bung them in the freezer the night before , after soaking them in oil for a day or so then tap them in.

The true way is to measure from the bell housing to the spigot shaft shoulder minus a few thou and reverse that measurement to the block to show how far the bush sits out.
They are normally pretty close but you want as much area supporting the tip of the shaft as possible, just gives it a better life span, maybe an extra 10 years or so

Flywheel bolts also important if you don't want to see all that mass coming through the floor !!!!!!

Clutch plate may have been in backwards previously ???

Good work almost there.

Greg

Thanks Greg yes measured up with straight edge thinking about it after asking. Suppose the red goo is for the bush. Never seize on spline.
