Hey Paul,
Quick question on the flamethrowers on your other EK, what guage wire have you got running from the flamethrower relay box thing to the coil? I've got mine working, but it's not getting enough power to make a spark

The flamethrower control box only provides a pulsed 12v exciter voltage to the coil and the coil's secondary windings provides the high voltage to fire the sparkplugs, just the same as your coil setup on the engine works. So a standard guage wire is fine.

If the control box is working you should be able to hear a high pitched singing/hum from the box. If this is happening check your spark gaps and coil leads.

Hope this helps.

got the box working, getting spark, tried gassing it, push the button and pull choke out but i think theres just not enough fuel in there to light up...oh well i got the box bit right considering they try to flog em to ya for $150! $15 bucks worth of materials and it works the same...except i didn't get enough raw fuel through the pipes

You need to make sure the pipes are really hot, when i first hooked mine up i was surprised as to how long they took to get to temperature.. be patient..

If my grey was getting that much flame, yours will definitely follow suit...

okie dokie might give it another shot then. pulled it out for now but i've done it so i can just plug in the terminals. did you need to make it run rich?
also, putting a set on the bagged EK? would look pretty WICKED i gotta say

I used to use a little bit of choke and pump the pedal like mad when I flicked the switch.

Worked OK

Yeah, Devilrod has the right idea, pump the pedal like mad with some choke...

Will possibly fit a set on the purple one, not sure if I want to attract any more unwanted attention from local law enforcement...
Might try and fly under the radar for a while...

Any help/info appreciated.
Just got the great news that the engine in the EK is cactus.
Anyone looking to part with their 186 or know of one?

Many Thanks, Paul

Also, does anyone know of any EK with triple carb setups?
