Wayne with a Sydney 1961 FB
Re: Wayne with a Sydney 1961 FB
Bloody drama's today, somewhere I picked up a belly full of bad fuel.
Filled up saturday night, drove to Berrima and back with no problems
and over to Wetherall Park to arrange a heater for Milkshake, on the way home home she spat
and was going nowhere. Damn left my tools at home.
Rang the NRMA, busy today 2 hour wait, shit, quick call to Fank Tedesco and he rescued me in 10 minutes.
And only charged me for a little extra fuel, $10, can't complain about that.
Rang NRMA, don't bother its fixed.
I first thought I'd run ouf of fuel but a check of the distance I'd travelled indicated I should have 1/4 of a tank
as the fuel guage showed, and I did.
So with some shopping on the way home she ran like a clock.
I stopped at the servo and filled up, got within 3/4 of a kilometre of home and she spat again.
Ok I know the problem now, I've stirred up the bad fuel that was left filling up.
Rang the NRMA again and requested help, 60 minute wait, ok that's better.
The patrolman arrived in 20 minutes, got out of the ute with some puter gizzimo in his hand
and said what sort of car is this? (God this don't sound good)
Its a 1961 Holden Special Mate I have some bad fuel and a blockage can you lend me a screwdriver and I'll fix it in 5 minutes.
Sorry I have to get a truck, mate I just live up the road.
Sorry not allowed to fix it.
So I have to spend the rest of the week draining a full tank and blowing out the fuel lines.
Not happy....

It should'nt take "a week" to fix just that Wayne..it's a half hour job at worst!! Remember these old cars have drain plugs in the bottom of the tank & it's only a couple'o hose clamps to undo and then a bit of compressed air blown through. EASY!

was the tank cleaned to start with (before you started driving the car after it sat for a long time? ) what i usually do is fit a filter before the fuel pump and carry spare filters and the tools to change them, try to get clear filters so you can also keep an eye on what's inside it
sometimes yor just better off shitting in yor hands and clapping
