Would have never throught a gen III would fit. Wonder what power it would put out in a ek. How much did you pay for the wagon if you don't mind me asking?

The same amount of power as one in a commondoorlildavo wrote:Would have never throught a gen III would fit. Wonder what power it would put out in a ek.
yeah i know a few guys around here that payed about 10k for a full spray on some hr's. get what you pay for though these days. yeah mum likes the idea she can send dad out in the shed when he is been anoying.steved57 wrote:Not a lot Davo, but I reckon by the time we're finished we'll have spent about $30 - 40K. Not unusual when you consider a top notch paint job can cost $20K+ these days. Don't let that put you off though, obviously the more you & your dad do the lower the cost will be. Have fun & enjoy spending the time together!
yeah he does, he is not into cars to much as me unless there old ones. and he knows i can take apart that motor easy enough took apart one in tafe and a 186 as well for something so simple they have a lot of torque tolerance. so that gen III was out a of a vt-vx? seen you mentioned putting a carby on it never seen that done before on a injected v8 only a v6steved57 wrote:Trust me Davo - Dad probably likes the idea just as much!![]()

That's interesting just acts like a injection system with all the timing. so what made you want to change to carby?steved57 wrote:Thanks Pete
We're at that point (and no doubt there'll be a few more) of waiting for things to be done by others. Front end is due back from Brisbane soon with its Torana front mount steering rack & VT discs. I've just got the narrowed VN LSD dic brake rear end back and am waiting for the shortened brake lines before i put it in. Been mucking around doing a few minor rust repairs on the body in the mean time. I'm told that in Qld (& possibly other States) 327 c.i is supposed to be the biggest engine you can go in an EK - unless you can find a sympathetic engineer![]()

Oh ok. Learn something new every day. Havnt realy seen a injected v8 turned to carby. Good luck with it all.steved57 wrote:What with running the Tubo 400 trans it removes the need for all the computer gear Davo, the trickiest part of an EFI engine transplant - particularly the LS engines. Not to mention the money saved by not having to pay for a maffless tune, no horrid looking wiring harnesses and injector looms, keeping people scratchin their heads (what engine is that?) and the best bit of all MORE POWER!steved57 wrote:What with running the Tubo 400 trans it removes the need for all the computer gear Davo, the trickiest part of an EFI engine transplant - particularly the LS engines.
