Would have never throught a gen III would fit. Wonder what power it would put out in a ek. How much did you pay for the wagon if you don't mind me asking?

Not a lot Davo, but I reckon by the time we're finished we'll have spent about $30 - 40K. Not unusual when you consider a top notch paint job can cost $20K+ these days. Don't let that put you off though, obviously the more you & your dad do the lower the cost will be. Have fun & enjoy spending the time together!

The same amount of power as one in a commondoor  just the power to weight ratio will be much better as an ek weighs roughly the same as a torana.

So in others words it'd be quick.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

Great work guys keep up the photos and info she's looking good. I wish i had the funds and the info prior to putting mine back on the road as i was wanting to do the 8 but had to settle for the 6 i had in the shed. But still want to do the conversion just have to track down the info and how far we can go here in qld and start getting it bit by bit and maybe look at a wagon as well to fit the family in.

yeah he does, he is not into cars to much as me unless there old ones. and he knows i can take apart that motor easy enough took apart one in tafe and a 186 as well for something so simple they have a lot of torque tolerance. so that gen III was out a of a vt-vx? seen you mentioned putting a carby on it never seen that done before on a injected v8 only a v6

Thanks Pete

We're at that point (and no doubt there'll be a few more) of waiting for things to be done by others. Front end is due back from Brisbane soon with its Torana front mount steering rack & VT discs. I've just got the narrowed VN LSD dic brake rear end back and am waiting for the shortened brake lines before i put it in. Been mucking around doing a few minor rust repairs on the body in the mean time. I'm told that in Qld (& possibly other States) 327 c.i is supposed to be the biggest engine you can go in an EK - unless you can find a sympathetic engineer

Davo: here you go - http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new ... -ls1.shtml

Cheers, Steve

That's interesting just acts like a injection system with all the timing. so what made you want to change to carby?

What with running the Tubo 400 trans it removes the need for all the computer gear Davo, the trickiest part of an EFI engine transplant - particularly the LS engines. In a nutshell mate, it makes the job a damn sight easier. Cheers, Steve

Not to mention the money saved by not having to pay for a maffless tune, no horrid looking wiring harnesses and injector looms, keeping people scratchin their heads (what engine is that?) and the best bit of all MORE POWER! :D

Hi all, time for a few update photo's. We've had the VN disc brake rear end shortened, 3.08 LSD reconditioned & 28 spline billet axles fitted. All fits pretty well although the U bolts are a bit tight & we'll need longer ones - pretty minor in the scheme of things.

The steering rack conversion has come back from Rods Racks & it's a beautiful piece of work. Rod also did the brake conversion - VT calipers, VN rotors on HR stubs - and it's equally great work. We're really happy with the result. Note that Rod normally returns these all painted up but we asked him not to with ours as we've got some welding to do with the engine mounts (watch this space).

And finally, we bought ourselves a Christmas present. Arrived from the States on Christmas Eve. Thank you Santa!

This weeks job is to weld in the engine & trans mounts & get the front springs, hubs, brakes etc all fitted up, then drop her on her wheels. Been a while! Yippee!

Cheers, Steve & Josh :D

Nice job Steve and Josh, coming along nicely 8) 8) 8)

Few questions about your diff/brake and wheels set up..

How much was the diff shortened? a measurement from disc face to disc face would be awesome if you had it..
How are you going with clearances from your brakes to your chassis rail? Could the hose or caliper hit if the car bottoms out?
Aaaaaand what size and offset wheels are you running? Any info would be appreciated guys!

Cheers, Brodie 8)
