I've got most of my gear now.. Just waiting for an engine crane to get the engine home.
Found out the diff is a slippery!

Got nearly four weeks off school soon so the plan is to start cleaning everything, paint and re-assemble..

Having a few dramas with some bits.
I got a 7" dual diaphram booster off a gemini and master cylinder of a late model falcon, problem is, the booster fouls on the bonnet hinges.. Would the easiest route be to lengthen the rod and space out the booster till it clears ? A local EK has a dual diaphram booster with modified hinges, its well done but i dont wanna copy it and it looks kinda hard :?

Leafs are now 2" lower with reversed eyelets. :)
Also have cruzin skirts, bullet lenses and a visor awaiting fitment :D

sick dude, firstly loose the exhaust tip...

second is the booster hitting the hinges or the springs?

with the booster and mount does it allow for the clutch cylinder?

cheers

 It did seem a little too good to be true. I'd only had the car for a couple weeks before being offered the swap. I was thinking of leaving her as she was but when this came up, i couldnt pass on it :D

Nath, the booster hits the hinges as well as the springs man. The clutch master is fine for clearance, if it wasnt for the hinges being there it'd all go straight in :(

Jay, reset leafs cost $190. But that was with reversed eyes, which is around 30 bucks extra i think.. Lol the wheels came with the swap dude 8)

And thanks to Paul (HPaddict), i now gotta mild cam and lifters for it.. :)

 I'll be coming up with this same problem in the future with HK booster and hinge spring clearance problems.

I've never really looked into it much, but when it comes time for me to look at fixing the problem I was thinking of cutting the existing spring eye locating tabs from the hinge and re-welding them on the other side and re-installing the spring in between the hinge and subframe water rail and using narrower springs if clearance is a problem.

Just a thought...............
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Yeah good idea, you'd probly even get away with the existing springs. Dunno how the HK booster would go but i think it'd still hit the actual hinges though...

With this one if you mount it were it should go on the firewall, you've got an inch and a half/two inches tops between the side of the booster and the subframe. So the whole hinge system would have to go :(

Dad and i have decided we're going to space it out off the firewall till it clears the hinges. Bit of tube with a sleeve in it and a new activating rod should do the trick he reckons...

 Yep, like I said, haven't looked at it at all, was just a thought to maybe help you out with the problem you had.

Maybe you might still be able to do it but make up a spacer between booster and firewall to clear the hinge and make up a lengthened pushrod??

I have a dual circuit HK/WB M/cylinder here at home that bolts direct to existing FB/EK firewall holes with an approx 4 inch spacer ( to use with a remote booster ) and was thinking the same idea with spacer and HK master/vac system.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

yeah that will work, seen it done before, there used to be a car on here (was dark blue with grey flash a good 4 years old atleats now) running a red and 5 speed that had a booster way off the firewall i cant remember what bracket he used but exactly what you are looking at doing.

Cheers

don't think that guy knows what he's selling can't possably see how that mounts a HQ type booster to the firewall i think it's like terry has mounts the master cylinder not the booster

my 2c which nobody wants to here those extension things that mount the booster/cylinder out past the spring look shocking but ya gotta do what ya gotta do i spose

Yep, thats the plan 8)
Just not gonna change the springs. If its gettin spaced out the extension tube thingo should be well clear of the springs too..

You lost me a little there, whats the spacer for with a remote booster?

Yeah Nath its definately been done. You dunno where any pics of that are do ya?

Thanks Trev, i got an adaptor with the swap :D

RB, ya hit the nail on the head. Looks poo but its gotta be done....
