I'm not familiar with greys but a trick i use on Rover V8's or other engines with external oil pumps is to pack it with as much vaseline as you can then crank without spark, this is usually enough to get the suction going.

Just priming the oil in my reconditioned engine. Using a 10mm rod, with end profiled for the oil pump, in the drill. I get 30psi no problems, can hear oil moving around. Not getting anything at the rockers. Tried for about 5 minutes.
Do you need something on the end that seals to the block, similar to the distributor o ring?

Normally a "drill and rod" will do for a grey. However, the grey motor rockers are fed oil through one of the cam bearings. The bearing has a groove, which is cut for only about 1/3 of the cam diameter. If the cam is rotated so that the groove is covered, no oil gets through to the rockers.

Try turning the motor over 2/3 of a turn (measured at the harmonic balancer/fan), and try to prime again. Remember that the crank turns twice as much as the cam, so the cam will only rotate 1/3 of a turn. If that doesn't work, try another 2/3 turn and prime again.
