I can't really say much coz I've never been that much into rods. That's not to say I don't like them or appreciate the effort people go to.
I don't really get the rat rod thing, but if someone likes them or builds one, hey, whatever floats their boat.
It's like when I went to Harry's at Liverpool last Saturday night. After a while you get sick of watching all the XY's and Brocky's rolling up with their 20 grand paint jobs, 22 inch wheels and blowers poking out of bonnets. Some ratty old rod (34 Chev I think) rolled up that looked like it had been built in a day and got a fair bit of attention. Personally I got a stiring in the loins when 3 restored 56/57 Chevs turned up, but thats just me. A bit of variety and induviduality is what it's all about. It's a passion, however different in it's interpretation, that we all share.
Everyone has different tastes, and although I may not be into certain types of cars, if that type of car is what the owner is into, good luck to them.
Though I still think that FX is butt ugly.
hot weather will do that
just get a bit sick of people bagging out this style of car or that, it's not theres it didn't cost them any money there life isn't going to change because of that car, i don't mind saying it's ugly etc but to have a go at the whole rat rod flat paint scene just cause that's not what they are into, like i said just walk past or better still go tell the owners there thoughts to there faces
guess these'de be the same people that would ring a radio station complaining about a TV show that was on the night before instead of just picking up the remote and changing the channel

Trailer Trash
they're really the only type of cars i struggle to understnd anything that spends it's life in a garage, on a trailer and then into a show
might aswell just build models, but i still look at them and enjoy them
About a week or so ago I saw this ute on the back of a Tilt tray in Silverwater next to another tilt tray that had a mad max replica with a Truck fuel tank in the boot.
I loved them both!!
I love Flat black...or any other flat paint on old cars.....I also like shiney paint.
People need to expand their "square" that they live in....and appreciate someone being different...and having a different car.
Not everyone has the same tastes. But people don't need to be so one eyed.
As long as people are having fun... then it's all good.

Not fishing for a bite at all Mick, Dago's A to me is more traditional Hot rod than rat, especially considering some of the old parts he's used and flat paint to me doesn't make it instantly a rat rod. And from memory I thought your mates latest effort (being the grey powered blue bucket) was a really well proportioned bucket albeit a shame it would never go further than it has.
Its really funny that the rat style came about as a backlash for the big dollar trailer cars that were being built and now (well in the US anyway) most rat rods are trailered to events...
I don't see the point in building ANY style of car if you can't drive the f@#ker... I have personal preferences of what I'd own, some of which would surprise most but things are not always the way we percieve them to be.

Seems we're not that different after all Mick
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
You know what our distant seppo cousins are like,
whenever someone does anything different, first its copied,
then the oneupmanship starts until they have lost site
of what they were doing in the first place
There's a lot of that going on in this country too!

i would say i'm not much different to many people on here if yor into cars we gotta be pretty simular
although i have a bit of a strange sence of humour that doesn't transfer to favorably to the typed word
and my BIGGEST problem is if i think something i just go and say it and worry about the consequences later
Fun, angry, fast, killer street racer or modern day version of the willys from Hotrod 1979? Too many names but shit it looks tough. But then again blown Willys always do. Street Rodder years ago did a feature on a white blown pro street styled one but everything was under the bonnet. Scarred me for life. Love 'em
Best of all Garry we know you like to drive 'em
You going to have it at Bright?

I CAN APPRECIATE THEM ALL hot rods rat rods originals modifides if its been driven it gets my vote and if it gets dragged out on the weekends on a trailer so be it .and on that subject those of you that dont like the rat creations because of the fact that they arrive on a trailer check out some of the customs hauling those vehicles to the show .most of the guys with the rat rods have customs as well .best of both worlds .
i'll get off my soap box now and get back in my kennel.
