Probably opening up a hornets nest here, but the organizers of Grey Pride should do the same.
Last year there was a non Grey powered car winning the top prize, so this year they created 2 prizes - one Grey and one non Grey.
The car that won the Grey prize was a modified FC, which bore no resemblance to anything that rolled out of GMH. Nice car, but how this won over the Grima owned Cameo EK I'll never know. Maybe I mistook the category. I presumed it was for best original grey powered car
On the other hand, it's the entrants that vote, so ultimately one can't really whinge to the organizers.............though in hindsight some clarity is needed as to what the category actually is

I wish that was my FB!
Having said that I am totally happy with my car.
Thanks for posting all the pics Steve and well done to all the winners (and participants too)

there should be no trophies

It's easy to sit back on your computer and pick shit Mick, so when you decide to run a Nationals why not put all your comments into practice and see how you go?
The trophy winners were picked by the entrants and most didn't need instructions on how to fill out their nomination forms.
It was very hard to choose winners because of the number of outstanding cars present. There will always be people who disagree with the results, but this shouldn't detract from the quality of cars on show which are a credit to their owners. Again congratulations to the trophy winners.

Well said Bill and SunnyTim,
Jason and myself drove 8500klms round trip to meet fellow FB/EK'ers and have a great time... MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!, if we won something it was a bonus..... I take it as a huge bonus at the fact that the votes were by
us "the entrants", having an award judge by half a dozen judges (that more times than not wouldn't know shit from clay) is nowhere near as meaningful as receiving one that has been voted by the very people that you are "competing" (for want of a much better word) against as I am sure all of the category winners would agree....... it makes it "special" and cannot in anyway be seen to be a "paid off" result.
As far as the organisation of the Nats went I don't think anyone can complain.....bloody awesome and everything flowed smoothly. I have been on the commitee (and President) of Motor Sport Clubs etc in Darwin and it is not an easy job and I take my hat off to anyone that has a go..................
OK sorry, I'm off the soapbox now...........Congratulations to every won that took the time to enter the Nationals (be it the first one or any up to 2009) because in my eyes you are all winners because you made the effort (and obviously had the time) to get together and make the weekend the success it was, WELL DONE EVERYONE!!!!

reidy it's easy to hide behind yor computer and be a big mouth, i asked what the criteria was and that got answered with nobody really knew, don't ever remember saying you or anybody else did a bad job of anything
if you don't want to organise an event don't put yor hand up and then whinge about having to do it, i'de be happy to give it a go but as i'm not in a club and have no intentions of ever joining one and doubt i'll be going to a nationals i guess it's out of the question
if it's anything to do with no trophies, that wasn't just for yor nationals it was in generall at all shows most, of the time people aren't happy with who won what, so if there's no trophies there's no complaints and if people are building cars to win trophies they're building cars for the wrong reason, entrants choice or peoples choice trophies are 2 that aren't bad but still lead to dissagreement case in point gray pride

Well Mick, when it comes to knowing about big mouths, you would undoubtedly be the expert. You've opened it enough on this site.
I didn't for one minute mention anything about seeking praise for a good job so i don't know what you're on about and i doubt if you know either. In fact i had a great time being PART of a team of very talented "volunteers" who organized the Bendigo Nats. And also one of a group of enthusiasts who i am now proud to call my friends who attended and had a great time.
As for being in a club, what can i say, you are obviously not a team player that's why you can't fit in. And as far as your excuse about living out in the sticks, the Victorian club has members in N.T, S.A, and N.S.W and those members can't make it to meetings. I suppose the other states are the same.
Regarding your comments, (you seem to have a comment about almost everything), Nationals, Trophies, All Holden Day being crap, Grey Pride etc. Not to mention, "I'm going to the Nats" nah "not going" no accommodation, yes going, it's too cold, it's too wet and what other excuse you can come up with, why not give it a rest?
At east we agree on something, that there will always be complaints about trophies and who deserved what, but i guess that's just human nature.
Ball is in your court Mick, if you're not gonna shit, get off the potty.

By the way, it's club's that provide this website so you can have your say!!

this is the reason why i didn't go YOU starting shit with me over nothing first was the reverse switch second and WHY i didn't go the sub frame, i decided not to because it would have continued face to face and only would have ended badly with me looking like an arse for punching you in the nose or being beat up by you, and i wasn't the only person talking about the weather but you don't seem to remember that, i wasn't sure what i was doing might have been going to wintersun but prior to the subframe shit i had decided to go, i had accom lined up was speaking to trev about entering or paying for dinners etc so i definately was going till the above happened, and then settled down and at last minute was going but couldn't get accom (see my post where i wanted a lift and possable bed)
i open my mouth cause if i've got something to say i'll say it wether it's good bad or indifferent 9 times out of 10 it's tongue in cheek and if people can't take some critisim bad luck for them
i never said you were after praise but you have done plenty of whinging about how much drama it is or was to organise
not joining a club has NOTHING at all to do with where i live, one thing is right i'm not a team player back slapping and blowing wind up peoples arse just isn't me, the reason i'm not interested cause there's too much bitching and carry on in clubs and i'm just not interested is there a law against it
i asked about 1 trophy :roll:and got an explanation all was good till you found another reason to be a keyboard warrior at me again
ask anybody that goes to the NSW AHD and they will tell you how f#%ked up there trophy system is, the show itself isn't bad
maybe this should all be said via PMs cause it does nothing for the site and will only end up getting the thread locked which won't be good
Smart Arse Mick
