Hi mate,

It's good to see that you can take constructive criticism a lot of people dont take it to well.

I will say it's not really my kind of thing but i do appreciate the amount of work you have put into it.

I have a Vp commodore and a EK but i can't ever remember thinking of combining the two of them.

cheers
Matt

Brian,

Make sure you start up a thread with some build pictures. That's a pretty wild first custom. You've done well.

RB - Yeah I love that pic as well. The hood/front end is really visually impressive.

Hey Brian,

Welcome and good to see some of the criticism didn't scare you off from the forum.

I was intending to take my FBKCOMMODORECHEV down to Caboolture on the weekend for the show to have a look at your creation but the rain changed my mind.

Mate from the pictures it looks like you've done a top job. You should make the trip to YAMBA on the weekend for the NATS.

Would be great to see the build photo's if you have any.

Cheers

Me personally, I am always in awe of all the guys building mod and custom cars - mine never make it out of paint or photoshop. Bit of a shame for the Coupe ute and the 'B-Bird', but not so the EKombi :?
I remember seeing a Kombi with EK fins and headlights cruising down the highway back in the early 80's

I haven't commented on this car yet but apart from the doors not lineing up with the top of front guards/top of rear quarter, I haven't got a problem with it.

I actually like the car and I couldn't even imagine the time and skill ( I'm no panelbeater/painter ) and hours that have gone into the build up of it.

Don't see a problem with grafting and in this cars case (apart from above mentioned  ) in my eyes it has worked out well.

Worthy of a front page magazine pic I reckon.

I like the concept. Just think the Commo wasn't the best choice of graft car.
Have a pillarless coupe build in mind using all modern mechanicals.
Would love to hear feedback whether you lot think that I would be better off (Pricewise) grafting ek panels on to a suitable late model car and what model you think would make suitable car to graft to as far as dimensions go

OR

whether I would be better off converting all the mechanicals in an existing ek/fb and havin the pillarless 2 door conversion done?

Cheers

First and most important questions.

How much do you expect to spend on a project like this.

What will you be doing as your part of the project.

Have you looked into legal registration of such a conversion

Yes, very valid points there SC

Anticipated time and dollars as opposed to actual time and dollars can be very much different.

First step before spending any $$$ is..............

Can I get this project legally registered??

The rego authorities and the engineers can make or break any project when it comes registration time.

You must talk to them first and run your project ideas past them for the yea or nay ( yes or no ).

Otherwise its destined to spend its years as a trailer queen    .

As far as getting registration on a car like this, spend some time and money with an engineer.

He may need to submit a permission to build request, and based on the reply you have two options

If you get the green light, it is in writing and a time frame may be put in place.

Otherwise you will have a great looking paperweight

It is not always as easy as it looks or seems, I wish it was.
