Good news ,My job has been put back until next week which gives me atleast 3 days towards roadworthy which means the chop is on :D
Stay tuned for graphic photo's of beheadings :D

on another note the trailer went to the metal recyclers today and the measely bastards gave me $30 for my load and that included a V8 trimatic and torque convertor ,and any other scrap steel I had , Wont be doing that again

Harko

Is this going to be a cut and drop chop?
Or are you going to play with the roof profiles??

OK plan B , as much as I want to run a disk through the roof I dont think I'll have time , Im headed to Fatboys tomorrow to hang with the blokes Ive been hearing about for over a year , Wednesday nights are the go at Fatboys compound down the coast :D .

I will get it marked out and framed up tomorrow though ,Ive just walked in 11:15 pm from removing the screen ,stripping the roof lining and interior ready for the chop .
Remind me to put some tape on that rear screen so I dont spatter it .
Which reminds me , I went for a medical today and the only thing the Doc found was 3 balls of metal in my left ear :D A rotiserie would avoid that

Sorry Smooth customs just seen your Q.
Im keeping the rear screen so from a side perspective the rear screen will slide forward to about the door frame , The roof profile will change to accomodate that .
Heres the plan I was hiding .
Image

and heres how I do it , Masking an original height roof with the chopped version gives me an estimate by measuring other things on the car - so I literally measure the computer screen in scale and transfer that to the car.

Please put your 2c in here ( )
Thanks to low as hell for the awesome side profile ..

In the last few years there has been a trend with customs (chopped and unchopped ) to have no working side glass and the door tops welded up

Working glass makes a true custom and shows the skill of the builder

how does working glass make a true custom
i'll admit it's a finishing touch and good on you if you WANT it and go to the trouble of nutting it out but that's as far as it goes
so harko don't take inspiration from my car as it was only a shit box wanna be custom  apparently the chop, door extensions and removeing the centre pillar are nothing unless it has side glass which I didn't want :x

Yeah I think I agree ,I like the look of smoothed over door's like yours and that copper brown blown XP that got resprayed green and black .
Its a big enough job smoothing all the channels hey :?
I just gotta keep the thieves out if its an everydayer

I think I'll try to get some coupe rear window channels for a start .

Ratbox
I have always like the customs you have built, and your no side window style preceded the current trend by possibly 15 years. Your ability to build with as little access to facilities (a shed) shows determination that has to be admired. And using them in all conditions. Where did I refer to them or other customs as Shit Box or wanna be customs

My comment relating to glass less customs is directed at all the recient builds, its an easy cop out to weld the doors up and not get involved in what can be a very frustrating part of the build.

Because the customs I have built over the last 30 odd years were every day drivers I needed them to be secure when parked. And I enjoy watching and listening to the experts that are trying to work out how you got curved glass in the doors in late model chops, instead of perspex.

I have nothing to say at this point!

I will be watching although just incase I can be swayed to do the same.

I just keep looking and wondering about the rear glass so bring it on Harko!
