Caught up with Tim, Brett, and Greg from Brisbane at Streaky Bay Pub.ImageImage
Then Lisa and Richard turned up, with my shotgun for the drive across, Philipe.

Briby and Greg, with respective partners, turned up at the pub for dinner, along with Roger and the SA crew. 14 of us travelling together including 3 FBs and 3 EKs, Greg's behind his Navara, and Chris and Lena in their motor home.

Great fun , are the Crupis going to tag onto your convoy as well ??? Reminds me of 2019 Mudgee nats, it wasn't really planned but we started off alone, then met up with a couple of our club members which was previously arranged , bumped into the SA crew , then picked up a couple of strays and ended up with around a dozen cars on the last day 8) 8)

Ah yes . . . the Streaky Bay pub. Stayed in the motel and eaten at the bistro many times. And walked the jetty, and partaken of the oysters . . .

I hope that the wind won't be (or won't have been) as bad as it was when I drove over to Exmouth last year. To wit -

Started at Wudinna and pulled into the Shell at Ceduna, exhausted. A guy who got there before me said, "Ah, you made it." "Yeah. That was a (fricative) ordeal." "My wife was asking me, 'What's wrong with the car in front?' I said, 'Nothing. That's how they drive in crosswinds.'" The wind was blowing pebbles across the ground at Nullarbor Roadhouse, because the dust and sand had long since gone. And I drove the 120 miles to Eucla at 40 mph tops.

But on the return trip, along the Ninety-Mile Straight, I could hold a handkerchief out the driver's window and put the car in neutral . . .

200 km out of Ceduna, I was told the cheapest fuel at Yalata. Pre authorise on credit card, and 91 only, butjust. I filled all my jerrys and ran on 91. It's not ideal. Occasional light pinging. Retarded timing slightly.

Others wanted 98, so we stopped at Nullabor, where Richard noticed one of his bottom balljoints had come adrift!! He soon found a helpful local and was able to weld it back in place at the adjacent airstrip, and was back on the road in an hour.ImageImageImage
