Thanks mate that looks easy enough to make... Famous last words! I have to strip a front down over the weekend but want to run Hq spindles with short arms to get better brakes . Thanks for the info

So what type of commodore rotors? Vn-vp? And what calipers was just going to use all Hq-z spindles brakes is there not enough room or just works better.

vb /vp aii the same
save the trouble to change studs , machine center

Well the front is still in the same place:( but will try to get all parts in one place and try to set it up, looked for vn brakes and was thinking do I need adaptor plates to mount the commodore calipers to the Hq stub axles as well?

Hey Cocko
Mate I have used vp rotors and calipers on my ute and used HR drum brake stub axles (modified) and adapter plates.
The bolts are different distance between centres on vp and hq/Hz and maybe even spacing may be different.
Others on the forum probably have more exact details on measurements.

HQ / Commodore stud pattern (PCD)

HQ-WB, 120.65mm / 4.75" pcd.

Commodore, 120mm / 4.724" pcd.

I should clarify my comment about distance between centres of bolt holes.

I was talking about the caliper bolt holes and as oz EK said the pcd of the hubs is slightly different as well as the stud size.

The rotors use the same wheel bearing so it is not a drama to swap them onto the spindle the issue is bolting the caliper on and this is where the spacer or adapter plate is needed.

Hope this explain what I was trying to say in the previous one.

if you like to use comm calipers
you can use the mounting bracket from hz wb caliper
pads are from xe xf falcon

Thanks fellas , I do know about the pcd difference and the Hq studs are what I was after, but if it doesn't work then will look at using the commodore setup .bat you are a wealth of info mate thanks again, I'm after the cheaper alternative by cheaper I mean using all the collection of old bits I have laying around and at mates.
I'm sure my mate years ago just bolted the Hq stubs brakes straight on but he also only had a 202 and original steering, but I didn't remember tyres rubbing.

The easiest way I have fopund to change from Commode to HQ stud pattern is to buy oversize wheel studs and offset drill the holes in the rotor/axle. The oversize studs are still 7/16"thread but the splined section is 9/16 or thereabouts so you can drill the holes big enough to move them over 32.5 thou and change the stud pattern without having to fill the old holes and redrill.

Why risk it when it is such an easy fix ???? I have seen a couple let go at burnout comps , fortunately both on one tonners so no major panel damage.
