they would actually go quite nicely with the engine bay on the first red one

Great pick-up, Tyson...... I don't believe you can appreciate what you have.....yet - and the price, absolutely no qualms with 6k - seen some pretty "ordinary" stuff over here for lots more than that..

When you go to car shows, especially FB/EK ones - the one thing which is becoming more and more apparent, is that vehicles in the "original" category are increasingly being outnumbered by those in modified and to a lesser extent - sports.... there is now a plethora of EK modifieds... FB's quite a few less - but they are the biggest classes. I would strongly suggest you take a peek through our "nationals" threads within this forum... I am firmly of the opinion that your appreciation of your newly acquired FB special sedan will greatly change....

At our nationals, the original category is one to behold.....and the relevance of any documentation/history available affords viewers to appreciate just where each "persona" has been.... ours for the enjoyment, when we reach an age where its relevance is appreciated ......much like a grand-parent reflecting on their life...

Back in the '70's and '80's (the era where those door trims were probably fitted) - it was almost an unwritten law to up the size of the motor and do something about the crash box.... this usually resulted in cutting out the original hump in the floor (must for FB and manual EK) and fitting an HR front end.... once those two steps were taken - the vehicle immediately leapt into the modified class - knowingly or not...

What you appear to have is one of "those" untouched FB's - and most of its value (to me) is in that it is "original"... sure, it's been "creature comfort added" with a few little bits... but the ease by which your vehicle can be restored to what is beyond most of us with "modifieds" is unparalleled...

I'm confident you have seen many FB's and EK's running along the road in your travels - and there are some absolutely great builds around .... but, even you must agree - when you see an original in this day and age - it certainly stands out from the majority of those no longer fully supporting and maintaining our national flag and pride (sorry folk, my thoughts - take a peek at the '1900's - late 50's vehicles.... not many of those seen at shows with "modified" transplants, unless you slip over into the hot-rod class where identifying the vehicle is harder than what is in it).

Your decision, Tyson... and I accept and support which ever direction you choose..... there are more than likely, purists within our rank who would perhaps offer you an exchange vehicle if you were considering a major modification project for this old girl, I'm sure....... it's just too good an opportunity not to restore....

Great pick up. Love the notes which decree that this old girl was given the servicing attention of an oil change around every 1,000 miles - not all dates were added and not a long list.... it certainly didn't do much work over those periods where the dates were shown - do you have much on the history of the vehicle and, how many miles has it on the clock?
